Hello - it's Mrs Confused here, yet again.


I just tried to reply to a thread, and this message came up...

"An invalid post ID was requested."

Please could someone advise me what that means?

I have found this happens when a quoted post is deleted before you press submit...or it could have been a glitch, if so just refresh the page and try again.

Its not still doing the same thing is it?

Hi Novum. I pressed 'reply' - tried it twice & it happened both times, but to make me appear foolish, it's now not doing it. Probably just a glitch (which I attract - I am a glitch magnet ). Never mind.

It was Jhado's abject misery thread (under Mrs McGregor's). Don't worry about it - I just tried again an it opened up a screen to let me add a post - I just didn't because I got distracted by something shiny.

Normally your text should be preserved but in the event that it isn't don't press refresh! Use the back arrow in your browser and you should recover your work. Once you have done that place the cursor anywhere in the text area and press ctrl + c together which will copy the content to the clipboard. Cancel the post and then press reply again once the new form appears place the cursor in the text field and press ctrl + v which will paste the contents of the clipboard in to the new reply and then click on submit. Cheers Frog. I've had that happen before, where the post I was trying to respond to had been deleted.

In this case, it hadn't (though I'm not sure whether or not it had been edited) an unlike that previous instance, the message of invalid post ID came up immediately, without providing a screen for me to type any response in. I'd never seen that before.

Its my doing Gilly, i did actually delete a post there in that thread, because I posted the same post again by accident soon after, so i deleted one of them.

When you saw the post still there it would have been the second one i posted...the first one was deleted...since they looked the same you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Hope that makes sense.

I guess you pressed reply right in the instance that i was doing all of that.

So nothing that you did wrong.

The chances of people replying to a thread when one of us mods is permanently deleting a post are few and far between.
