We're gonna have to decide just how many mods we want on the team, then let them decide (once put in power) how they are gonna work it (in shifts and/or whenever they are on). That can be decided in the other thread here Also to be decided there, is how they are gonna be put in that position (voting or just put there)... Andy has already made some great suggestions for the mod area in the other thread at post #25 (go and read what he said)

There is no time limit on this as of yet (probably wont be), so please feel free to take your time in thinking about it and making your decisions... and as someone else said, breath (he-he-hoo, he-he-hoo... Lamaze style) and don't feel pressured or rushed.

I particularly like how all 3 above are very cool and take their time.
Yet they would still know when to take action if needed

Wow! Thank you Mikey, and andy. I am very flattered, and I will give it consideration, what with the winter months coming up...but I'm not very tech savvy to be honest.

I have a little idea...how would it be if mods could spread their workload by just covering their favourite sections. When they are away/unavailable, the other mods could cover them. I think if mods cover the subjects/categories they are interested in, it would make for more interesting moderation perhaps and help them keep their pecker up and make better calls perhaps? just a thought.

That's an interesting idea Jane... well worth the community thinking over it and the mods (once appointed) considering it.
Besides covering the subjects/areas of interest to them, that being their main focus, they would also be on hand to handle things in other areas should there be a need for it.

i propose we dont have mods and have coined an excellent new term, zonekeepers. i also propose that we push for a return to the principles of self moderation that are a foundation stone of the sz.

many of us have allowed ourselves to lower our game recently. time to take responsibility for the effects or our words on others again.....

Nice idea on the "zonekeepers" and the return of self moderation... but in the event someone doesn't self moderate, a mod or zonekeeper (sounds like a terminator kind of thing to me hehe) can step in and start bashing heads together

yeah stars. someone has to do the sign ups, thread moves etc. it seems fair that if not everyone is gonna have the keys to the flightdeck, those people also act as whats now known as doorkeepers, bouncers in my language.

part of the longstanding issue with sz is that there is no clear way of dealing with ejections and bannings. its true to say that the doorkeepers shouldnt need to get the community to ok them blocking someone who is pissed and argumentative (watch it oi) but when it comes to a ban we really do need to nail down the process and then hone it again.
