Wondering what the forums thoughts are on having this feature, if it would be beneficial among other things.

I know other boards have it, particularly the commercially available ones. There are some requests over at kunena.org for this feature, so im just wondering if its worth myself being involved in that request thread.

I have been asked this by a few members in the past btw, if there is such a feature in Kunena Forums, obviously there isnt as yet.

I added a poll.

Please no...aren't we supposed to be building bridges (nice rainbow ones  ) not tearing them down?
Surely we can be grown up enough just to use our own in built 'ignore' button? Hey ho, I know.....not......
But surely Sanctum'ites can be above and better than other forums?

I don't know I think if it got to that point it's better to just leave.

Question if a forum member asked to have all his input removed is that possible, or is that even a request that is possible, I always wondered that and just thought this was a good time to ask.

I see people go on inactive but their past posts are still there so maybe it can't be done.

I'm not asking for that even if I only get along with several people but it may come to that.

Since this is a asking thread from you I thought it would be a good time to ask about that also

No, its not done for a number of technical reasons, not to mention that it makes threads incoherent when posts that were part of a discussion are removed.

I for one would never use it ftr, i never did on any other forum. I prefer to read every response, even if/when i dont agree with it.

I did vote yes though because some people have asked for it... if it is there we can choose whether to use it or not and perhaps everybody is happy.

I've never used it, because I want to see everything. But because I know some people might like to use it, which is no skin off my nose, I'll vote yes.

I've only ever used that option once with an American right-wing christian nutter who would spam the forum with endless chunks of scripture, completely irrelevent to whatever discussion was going on.

I voted yes

A: In case that fruitloop or its cousin/spouse turns up here.

B: If others have requested it then I'd rather see an option available which people can decide not to use than the reverse.

I'm kind of with Jane, so voted no. On the other hand, if the forum was to get busy and there was a lot of nastiness, it might be a good thing.

On a big forum I have seen individuals bullied and belittled by people who could basically out type them and piss them off with ridicule and out right cruel personal insults, I wondered in a sense why would a person stay at such a forum to tolerate this , and also why would a moderator tolerate it , unless they hated the individual being abused also.

The biggest offenders against a individual are the grammar Nazis they piss me off the worst.

the ignore button makes one look like a weakling or thinned skinned person to their abusers

Bottom line imo moderators just need to step in and stop it, like a prize fight that has gone on to long at times is stopped

I voted yes.

I'm not sure if I'll ever need to use it myself but I think it should be there should anyone else feel the need to use it.

Can we have a shock button as well? I realise this will involve somebody - Hi Novum :) - going to everyone's house to fit some sort of electrical jiggery-pokery so we can shock each other but I think it will be worth the effort.

Mods, get busy! Make it so!

I don't think we have quite enough posters for that :D
But i mean if someone really wants to put someone else on ignore they should be able to...

the only thing is the ignoring of someone will be known to the ignored and bad feelings will fester because of as you say this is a very small forum and have a strong negative effect

but I also voted yes

Looks like we're going to get another 50/50 vote situation.

May I suggest a compromise?

How about a "Nods head with a glazed expression" button?

Should we not have a poll to decide whether changes to the current poll are required?

I don't really understand why anyone would want to deny others a facility they've requested. :conf:

Or how denying that facility would make us above and better than other forums.

Access to an ignore function might persuade some members to stay rather than be driven away by someone who winds them up.

Personally I'd say that's overkill, but that's just my opinion...if only there were a way to gauge the general mood on such matters.
