The parents of six children who died in a house fire (5 on site, 1 later in hospital) have now been charged with their murder:

In the report on t.v., the police didn't come across as utterly convinced but they are charging nonetheless.

This is the man previously "famous" for being berated on the Jeremy Kyle show for having fathered 17 children by various women. At the time of the fire, it was revealed that another woman had been living with them (mother of another 6 of his children) who had left, taking her own children with her, just before the fire began. She was considered the main suspect... up until now.

Parents/Guardians are the second biggest kill group (the first being Married Couples/Romantically linked people).

How very sad for the little 'uns. They were often so ridiculed in life, courtesy of their parentage and their parents' ways. As if anything of it is ever the children's fault.

I can never get my head around cases like this, it beggars belief. I don't believe in 'evil' but can't imagine what 'sickness' would allow me to do such an act.

I DETEST anything bad happening to children. They are so unable to do anything about it - but at the hands of those they should be most able to trust in a place they should be safest of all, it's abhorrent.

My only "fascist" trait (I hope) is that I truly do not believe everyone should be allowed to breed (ad infinitum or at all in some cases) just because they are a Human. I remember having my own little girl: I had to stay in hospital for 5 days having had a c.s., and was hardly bothered with. Then, on the fifth day, a midwife and doctor told me I could "go" and handed this tiny little girl to me. That was it. They had no idea who I was, how I lived, what I was like at all.

We wouldn't have handed a foal over to someone without checking out they were capable of looking after it properly.

I don't know what the "test" should be in each case, but just not everyone should be allowed to breed (especially with the form this man showed).

This is just awful - really shocking. I can't really add to anything others have said before me other than as hada says, it's best not to judge before all the facts are known. Difficult to do in a case like this, though, when ones first reaction is one of utter revulsion! I did wonder if it's all to do with the parents wanting a bigger house - the father is well-known for demanding a bigger council house for his family. It's possible, IMHO, that they started the fire in order to force the council to rehouse them, and didn't actually intend for any of the children to get hurt. But we can't really know for sure, yet.
