Israeli warplanes 'launch air strike inside Syria'

Israeli warplanes have launched an air strike inside Syria from Lebanese air space, US officials have said.

Unnamed officials told media outlets the likely target was a weapons site. Some reports suggest the arms were to be sent to Lebanon's Hezbollah.

Israel has refused to confirm the strike, though it has launched strikes in Syria as recently as January.

The chiefs of WHO, Unicef, Ocha, WFP and UNCHER urged all political leaders to use their influence to stop the bloodshed in Syria.

“After so many families torn apart and communities razed, schools and hospitals wrecked and water systems ruined […] there still seems to be an insufficient sense of urgency among the governments and parties that could put a stop to the cruelty and carnage in Syria,” the UN officials said. Until now, 70,000 people were killed during the Syrian catastrophic civil war.

The UN officials are asking from all the political leaders to use “their collective influence to insist on a political solution to this horrendous crisis before hundreds of thousands more people lose their homes and lives and futures — in a region already at the tipping point.”

The real villains of this piece are Russia and China letting their geopolitical fears and aspirations influence the ability of the UN to end this conflict.
I think it's something like 30k people have died during this civil war, it could well be more or less, Al Qaeda has gained prominence, there are mass purges of religious and ethnic minorities, political dissidents, artists etc, and Al Assad still commands an army, say what you want about Israel but if it wasn't for China and Russia opposing international action the Assad regime could have been toppled months ago and massive bloodshed could have been averted.

You are better off finding somebody on youtube with vids or a blogger in Syria to find out what is really going on as the MSM fear campaign is designed to lower our vibrations in to thinking WWIII is coming when in reality this planet has been in perpetual war for millennia. Obama and Kilary have their fingerprints on any chemical weapons used against Syrians. Just as Bush snr had with Saddam and his WMD's that they used on the Kurds. The only real terrorists are the one's in suits who WE as a mass populace foolishly keep giving too much power to.

Assad is not a western puppet caretaker like Saddam and Gaddafi, Kazai et al..and Iran will never bend to western rule, Israel is fucking insane and they have infected the Pentagon, Whitehall and Washington and the UN. Vatican Monarchy rule is winding up and they think they can make the transition, but how can shadow governments operate in an age where there are no longer any shadows.. Syria has accused Israel of launching rocket attacks on Damascus, after a night of huge explosions near the city.

Syrian state media said the rockets hit the Jamraya research centre, which Western officials have suggested is involved in chemical weapons research.

Israeli radio quoted a senior security official confirming an attack, and sources said it targeted weapons bound for Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.

It is the second suspected Israeli strike in Syria in two days.

On Friday Israeli aircraft hit a shipment of missiles near the Lebanon border, according to unnamed US and Israeli officials.

The BBC's Yolande Knell in Jerusalem says the latest developments are a significant escalation in Israel's involvement in the conflict.

She says Israel has already responded to fears of retaliation by locating two batteries of its Iron Dome missile defence system near Haifa, close to the Lebanese border.
