Okay, now here's a regular guy making peanuts--just enough to get by on. This person has no disposable income.
And get this--he's just got a whopping $192 more a month to pay, thanks to Obamacare.

What's his after-tax take home--maybe $21,000. That's 1750 a month. Now take out rent or a mortgage--average $800. Now take out $150 for utilities. Now take out $200 for a car payment. Let's just assume against all liklehood that Pat has no student loans or credit card bills.

Pat has $600 to live on for the month. That's gas, food, car insurance, and miscellaneous. Now Obamacare comes along and clips him for $192 more. And what does he get in return? A great big fat deductible. Unless he needs an organ transplant Pat's never going to recoup a twentieth of the money he has to pay Obamacare. He won't even have bought peace of mind because the plan hardly covers anything.

THAT'S what this ACA is about. Just shearing that last little bit of fleece off the captive herd of threadbare Americans. Sure you can find the stray bit of gold in with all the dross and make that the dominant narrative, but you should know that those feel-good stories are the tiny tip of a huge iceberg that mostly consists of screwing Americans over.

While over 800,000 furloughed government workers took the bulk of today's "shutdown" hit (even if that means record high traffic and ad revenues for the world's porn websites) in the form of compensation (that is merely delayed) one of the parties impacted by the first government shutdown in 17 years was none other than the Ku Klux Klan. Reuters reports that a KKK rally was one of the first casualties of the U.S. government shutdown on Tuesday when National Parks officials told the white supremacist group the event would have to be canceled. The KKK had been granted a permit for what it dubbed a First Amendment demonstration on Saturday at Gettysburg National Military Park, but park officials said it could not take place because all National Parks have been closed. "Because of the federal government shutdown, Gettysburg National Military Park has rescinded all permits for special events, including the October 5 First Amendment demonstration," the park said in a statement.



The surreality continues:

Park officials had previously defended the decision to allow the KKK event, saying the group was entitled to the free speech protections afforded by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"As custodians of land owned by the American people, the National Park Service has a responsibility to make the land available for exercising those rights," a statement from the parks said.
One truly can't make this up.

But as long as the KKK sold the VIX and were long the S&P today in the last minutes of trading, we are confident they will get over this minor snub of their "first amendment" rights. Because there is nothing quite like feeling the warm glow of a little Fed-created "wealth effect" when unable to express one's encompassing love for all human brethren of all colors and ethnicities.

They just up the debt ceiling again at the last minute and people go back to sleep again.
Not a problem basically.

Sure enough, today is the first day of the next quarter (window dressing is over), and the bond market, if not so much the stock market, has finally awakened that the government shutdown is merely an indication of just how contenuous the debt ceiling negotiation very likely ill be, and that it is increasingly likely that the X-Date of October 18 may come and go without a deal, which just may result in a technical default on the nearest maturity Bills.

They'll just raise the debt ceiling, nothing else they can do

this shutdown though tuff for many, is nothing. a bit of far right posturing re obamacare.
the looming debt ceiling is the real deal and as andy says, they will wind their necks and kick the can. i dont believe the bankers are quite ready for the implosion.....yet

yes, obamacare is being pushed as the crux of it by the msm.
whereas i see some short term penny pinching, a fair amount of social conditioning and summat of a dress rehearsal.
