The depths we are sinking to now.

I've gotten these for many years around about this time of year, now. I think it's accepted as quite normal, particularly for LAs and HAs.

Funny how they can always find the cash for costly-as-fuck campaigns like this though.

Thing is, they're all having their rather costly Christmas parties around about this time of year too (I know this from experience) so they need to make sure the books balance when they all blunder back in in January.

How do they propose to help, I wonder.

Darling, I'm thinking of not paying our rent this month. It just seems like a really sound financial decision.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people that don't pay their rent don't have any choice.

Alternatively, if you can't find work and are getting some help with your rent, they tend to leave you alone too, but only for as long as the rent account stays in the black. Not sure how recent changes to benefit allowance will effect that (narf-narf) but once you're in arrears, see point one above.
