I'm not banned as cat yet either. That said, I don't go there anymore, not even to lurk. Maybe the ban is waiting for me. Hahahaha. T'will be a long wait.

I must say it's rather exciting. I've never been banned before. :spliff:

Nonsense! With my almost supernatural detective abilities, I always knew you to be a Salty Sea-Dog:

@ DG - you know it's my Learned Belief that i-am is David Icke. I might be the only one on earth who does believe that; but I patiently wait to be proved right! :D

I don't think you should go back because I very well remember your beautifully expressed leaving post:

forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?p=1060569997#post1060569997

...even though I didn't agree with it entirely, and was sad to see you leave at the time, it was very succinctly put and gave clear indication that you probably shouldn't go back there!

BTW, I had to access your posting history to find that, and I'd forgotten that you'd posted on my book thread regarding Kindle books. I think I sent you a PM about it if I remember rightly. Did you manage to do it successfully?

Aww, fank ooo wub :) No, I think the post you mean was by cantata - I have another account there under the name cat, which is still in place. I just don't use it. They must surely know by now that cat is really CANTATA....

Erm, no... that wonderful, detailed pm that laid out every teeny-tiny step to take in order to convert a word doc into a mobi book for kindle. Erm, once I'd deactivated the cantata account I couldn't access my damned pm.s anymore. :emb: Sometimes I rush my fences, you know what I mean. :D

I paid for the conversion to be done by Alan at yourebookpartners.com :emb: :D

To be honest, I wish I'd done this to a certain extent, as converting a Word document to Kindle format is a total pain in the arse (I can't imagine how much of a pain in the arse it is to write an entire book in HTML). But it goes against all of my Northern instincts to pay someone to do something you could yourself!

I'm all for creating labour in principle, I just hate to be defeated by something. If I don't think I can do something, I literally won't even attempt it!

I saw the link to your book on another thread, I do like the cover it looks excellent.

I never noticed this before, but I just read on Amazon:
Unlike print books, digital books are subject to VAT.
What a rip-off. That means that if print books were to die out completely (hopefully this won't happen) then all books would be subject to VAT.

I'm actually fairly optimistic that it won't happen, at least in the short-to-medium term because people have a love for books that will be difficult to extinguish. Even vinyl has endured as a medium.

Do 14 year-olds growing up now have the same love for them? I'm not sure.

I hope you're right wub. I hope books are with us for the long term.

It's one of my major concerns with the control system. If they phase books out. Pen and paper would be next. Then we might have a Winston Smith situation with secret writing pads and biros.
