Please could you describe the quiz? Is it something we could do here perhaps?

It was a general knowledge quiz hosted on a Saturday night. (30 questions - I think)

Getagrip set it up then handed over to Ian. Alice took over for a few weeks.

I gave up even trying months ago :D

(I don't think it's been on for a couple of weeks)

I hosted the quiz every Saturday night for about 5 months. By which time I think that I had covered every possible question. I just couldn't carry on any more so aliceinw took over. I don't know what she felt about it all though. I'm just glad to be able to drink  in peace now on a Saturday night.

Let's raise a suggestion to do it then, eh. We're all cheats here though, & will be Googling answers I should think. :D

Do you feel like starting a thread on it?

Thanks for the welcome Ian, Evie and Jax :hi:
I resigned from the quiz after all that went on the week Sonia left PTV with people being suspended/banned for having an different opinion. The way discussions were shut down, move along...etc - the few comments I made were all deleted and then the quiz thread in General was dumped down in members to hide among all the tumbleweed under the excuse of spring cleaning, tried to link in General and that was moved within 5 mins and I'm sure they sent a mod along to see if anything was said that didn't follow the party line on the last one I did. :(

So not good - you did some really good quizzes Ian, was fun :D - I couldn''t do 5 months like you but if people took it in turns hosting it I'd be happy to do some over this side if people were interested.

I agree it was it a bit heavy atmosphere - getting jumped on if you didn't to the line. I've never been the most prolific of posters and hadn't been on DIF that long but what I saw went down that week showed it wasn't my kind of place....time to move on.

So is the quiz really a 'who can Google the answer the quickest' competition ?
This is where my bottom line would be if it existed.

ALL quizzes are that now. :D

I'd argue that we always learn something as a result of general knowledge quizzes, whether from cheating or the submitted answers of others, that it's definitely worth doing.

If one of you experienced ones fancy setting one up, and filling us in on the rules etc, I think others would take turns. I will. :)

Do it fingers on buzzers style so at least there is an element of competition to the Googling.

What pisses me off is the way DI whines on about how people can use his forum for free? what a pathetic way to look at it. Everything on his forum has been put there by the members so how on earth is he doing them a favour, he can't even be bothered to pop in occasionally.

If they deleted a members contributions when they banned them they'd be nothing there barring a few DM links... some folks really are delusional!

Actually Grenadene it's quite the reverse.

Everyone's posts there and the responses to them increases traffic.
Traffic figures are them used to sell to the advertisers, (which are all over that forum), advertisers then pay Icke Inc.

So rather than them provide it free for users, the users are cash cows for them.
It's another magicians slight-of-hand move.

I'm afraid that I wont be starting a quiz up. I had my fill of it all from my time hosting it before. Its fairly easy to do though. Compile 30 questions and answers in a word document. Then copy and paste each question one at a time in a chat room. The first with the correct answer gets the point. Have a break half way through for 5 minutes. Enables everyone to refill their drinks and go to the loo. I use to enjoy them they are a great laugh if you have the right mix of people. I just fed up with the compiling of the questions. I did enjoy it to start with but months later I was running out of material for questions. If anyone wants some advice beyond what I have typed here just ask away.

Make no mistake, the site is making lots of $$$$
What really pisses me off is how can they go on and say (in 2010) that they have no money to run the site! and how we should be oh so grateful to DI for providing us with a platform for *cough* free speech. Really, deluded. Or they think we are idiots.

www.siteworthtraffic.com/report/davidicke.com - that is just estimates, but you get the idea, it's not just a few buck... and that is from traffic alone, not to mention advertisers

No problem, Ian. If nobody else wants to set one up, I'll give it a go later on.

Post here instead of on other thread. I was over on DIF few days ago and the forum is so quite, dead after all the bans. DIF feels so eerie and like I don't know anyone anymore, as most have been banned. There are many new members but the ones I knew and remember their posts, are no longer there. I see many more have been banned. One of the posters I liked was nomorewifi and he is now banned. :(
It's also a bit like starting a new job, where you don't know anyone over there anymore. With TPVGate, the over the top moderation, they have killed there own forum. It's doesn’t feel nice or right over DIF anymore. After TPV fiasco, I don't think many want to be part of that forum either now.
Here is nomorewifi banned profile. Print screen that I took. Maybe get him or her over here.

Welshwitch is suspended as well now.

Looks like the DIF is dying at the hands of its moderators. As I understand it, Icke didn't want a forum on his website when it was being set up, so if the DIF gets closed down it will actually be in accordance with his wishes.

Thank goodness for SZ. Really enjoying it. Well done to its founders! :)
