aarrgghhhh irrationally angry rant inc
ufochick not for the first time you are talking out your arse...
A gift, a donation, a contribution in any form is finite. If a relative gives us a birthday check we expect to be able to use it in which ever way we choose. But what if that aunt followed us around asking every 5 minutes "What are you going to spend that money on" or "I brought you this catalog so you can buy something from it with the money I gave you"? Crazy making? Stressful? Uh ya!
indeed if someone gives money as a gift to a relative for their birthday, the recipient does expect to spend it how they choose - your analogy is disingenuous though, donating towards a project is not the same as giving a birthday gift. It is more like contributing towards a defined gift lets say for the sake of the analogy a specific painting. then being asked to give more as the specific painting was going to cost more than originally thought. then finding out what was actually bought was a cheap reproduction, that the person sourcing the painting had paid themselves for doing so and the reproduction was painted by one of their mates.
The nitpicking, the complaining, the negativity these deplete the energy that has been gathered for this project. All of us who donated in some way believed in this project. Now we need to completely let go of that donation and our false sense of control over what now happens.
those who donated were made promises in exchange for that donation, why should they not speak out if those promises are not being lived up to? I disagree it is not about control it is about accountability.
The old saying is "Give and ye Shall Receive" it isn't "Give and then be sure what you have given is used exactly the way you want it to be used or there will be hell to pay". Let's stick to the original and allow TPV and ourselves to grow.
