I've just heard about that on the news, they are saying 400 injured now

Its all a bit worrying .

Is this the first meteorite to hit earth and injure people in modern times?

Is this the same one that NASA said would come close but not hit us on Friday?

Was there no warning , like Andy suggested I would have thought NASA and all the other space agencies would have been all over this warning people to evacuate the area (or does that just happen in the movies)

Judging by the speed and scale of their response (20000) rescue workers) it seems that Russia was on stand-by.

Like I said all a bit worrying

I always try and be rational and avoid the 'oh the end is nigh' stuff but this last week has really unsettled me for some reason.

The pope resigning, the meat scandal, now this meteorite .....something is off kilter , it is perhaps manufactured by the PTB to incite fear, and if it is it's working.

I've had conversations with 'normal' people this week who are feeling unsettled for some reason . People who wouldn't be into conspiracy theories in a million years yet they are saying conspiracy like things....it is worrying me and affecting my mood if i'm honest

And no, that was definitely a meteor, very characteristic. The flash and then the change of path and colour of vapour was not. Hence the SAM report being possible I spose.

so what is a meteorite? Are there just lumps of rock just floating about in space that could fall on earth at any moment?

I don't know anything about space or meteorites hence me asking

A scientist on Sky said this meteor and the asteroid are not related.
