On the webbot forum I predicted that a shallow red quake {6 mag or higher} would happen on Hitler's birthday April 20...AH's 124th birthday.
Haarped quakes often happen 5 minutes either side of the top of the hour....& are always shallow.....

On April 20 at 2 minutes & 47 seconds passed 8AM we had a 6.6 mag ,shallow quake in China.....

13 hours later we had a 6.1 near the Kuril Islands off the coast of eastern Russia...Depth was 20 kms.....

Yes, they happen every day, we know. We're sooo impressed.

What next, predicting it'll rain somewhere today?

Can “Mega Quakes” really happen?
THEORETICALLY, YES. REALISTICALLY, NO. The magnitude of an earthquake is related to the length of the fault on which it occurs -- the longer the fault, the larger the earthquake. The San Andreas Fault is only 800 miles long. To generate an earthquake of 10.5 magnitude would require the rupture of a fault that is many times the length of the San Andreas Fault. for the last 12 days or so we have had a red quake on average every day....this is unusual....

OK..I was wrong about having one 8 mag quake every 20 years......
It looks like we get one or two every decade....EXCEPT FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS WHEN WE HAVE GOTTEN A LOT MORE.....

Mag 8 is once or twice per year as per the USGS info there.
Accuracy of reporting is only a fairly recent thing though, perhaps the last couple of decades, the rest is going to get patchy as it relies on observations rather than instrumentation. Many of the quakes are in remote areas that are still not accurately recorded even today.
That being the case, the chances are that the normal earthquake frequency is actually even higher than shown.

Also....was this yesterday, today.....or as per your usual....yet to come prediction? I know it was within the last hour, but just because it is in red over on USGS doesn't mean it is catastrophic! I'll give them their usual month and they will downgrade it to below 6.0 anyhow.
