About a year ago I started taking alot more notice in the skies above me, mainly down to the fact that they started catching my attention. Since then, my interest has only increased because quite simply, so has the sky increased in it's animation. Not sure what it's like for the rest of the UK'ers around here but the red skies in Scotland have been pretty spectacular for months. The old "red sky at night" rhymn has lost all it's credibility ;)

This interest led me to look at weather elsewhere and led me to these following clips from the same person. Despite their overall view behind these compilation clips, the videos are still very worth watching. And I defy anyone to not have way more than a few wtf moments throughout as they leave far more questions than answers.

I look up all the time! :D I ADORE the sky: "The last of the wide, open spaces", I call it; never the same twice. I have some photos of some skyscapes I've taken on my phone (I don't know how to post them here) and they are fantastic. Day and night, I'm out gawping at the sky. It's a kind of "meditation" and incredibly inspiring. Apparently, the painter Constable used to be obsessed with the sky too - and his paintings are famous for their beautiful sky depictions.

A lovely creation, the sky. Full of life and movement. :)

The only thing that boggles my mind more than the universe, is that the majority of people rarely seem to ponder its existence.
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma,
a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Lot of people are so stuck with their virtual reality that they don't even remember that there's a sky above them. I can't count the times I've almost had an accident while riding my bike as there's so many people who are in their bubble and don't see things around them, not to mention the awesomeness that is the sky.

Too true mate. Which is kind of ironic, because I look to the universe whenever I feel stuck in my virtual reality, and remember that it's all just the blink of an eye.

This used to irk me somewhat until I realised that really all is part of "the game." You could quite easily spend a lifetime marvelling at its splendour, but what's really amazing is that you can also immerse yourself completely in the minutae.

Choices, choices (and that's the very point of it all, I reckon).

Day time for the minutiae and night time for less trivial wonderment.

Are you rural, sketts? When I lived out in the wilds of Northamptonshire, I used to see easily 14 or more shooting stars every night. Here in manky old Leamington Spa, I must have seen about 3 or 4 in as many years. Light pollution, pollution and any other kind of pollution they can invent has the sky blocked out at night.

Some nights are stunning with the 3D effect and it looks like you could pick the stars out the sky by hand but there's not near enough of those

The sky was surprisingly totally pitch black here last night.... Normally there's some kind of thin haze up there all the time but we have had a quite strong wind for two days now which completely blew the sky as clear as it gets. Feels amazing to see black sky with lot of stars here. Before about 2006 it used to be like that all the time in autumn, then something started to happen and the clear sky didn't exist any more. Except this year has been a weird one, more clear than in long time. I wonder why.

Another thing here that ruins the sky is that streetlights are ALL the orange type which makes everything glow that ugly reddish color, sure it lights things up during winter very well but it blocks the sky too. Twenty years ago all streetlights were the old kind, the light was bluish white and that did not ruin the scenery during the night. I would so much like to be at the summer house this time of year as there is absolutely no lights anywhere, the closest ones are twenty kilometers away. There you can see how many stars there really is up there. And shooting stars every night. :cool2:

I miss the big, open night skies full of stars. You just don't get them in town. :( I want to go home (wherever "home" is)!

Actually, those of us on the Eastern Hemisphere apparently don't get the 'Black Moon' until the end of next month, October 30th. It's you lot over the other side that had it lastnight
