Ive just read that George Osborne will announce a fresh round of spending cuts,In his statement,George Osborne is expected to say health, schools, foreign aid, local government, revenue and customs and the security services will be protected.

Can somebody explain to me what foreign aid is and why it's being paid at a time when poor people in the UK are having cuts in benefits from the GOV.

It's simply a transfer of 'money' or resources from one country to another.

It happens for political reasons. No-one ever gave away millions or even billions of dollars without expecting something in return.

It's bribes basically HS.

Bribes for access, contract preferences for UK companies, arms/aircraft deals, (that's a big bite out of that budget), everything except what we'd expect it to be used for. Sure there's token schools and food aid fronts but that's just for photo-ops and scores chump change.

It's also a blackmail investment. Give a country some cash, if they get a bit uppity on agreeing to something you want, threaten to pull to funds.

"Nice little irrigation scheme you've got running there on your father-in-laws estate Secretary Patel.
It'd be shame if it had to close"

The reality is, because the whole world is bent, I doubt we could operate without doing it.
