Great programme, just a shame that its ending makes no sense when you take into consideration that people are already being forced to cut back on food shopping and as for cars most of us buy well used.
The only ones with spare cash would be the well off middle class, unfortunately they are dwindling too.
Poor Abs is struggling just to make the rent, let alone choose what car to buy lol, I'm sure a whacking amount of the UK is just like that now.
Ofc that was by design too.

We needed this info back in the 60's.

Every time you turn on the TV, though, you will be told that you’re nobody if you don’t buy loads of consumer products. This will have a much bigger effect on people than rational arguments about what is sustainable.

If we saw advertising on TV that said “don’t be out for yourself, it doesn’t matter what other people think about you, keeping up with the Joneses is a complete unwinnable rat race, why not have a conversation with someone instead? The best things in life are free and you should be thinking about making ties in your local community not buying a raft of useless consumer products which feature inbuilt obsolescence anyway” then people would think very differently.

Instead we see advertising that says “buy this car, everyone will think you’re fucking great, and you will be great, you will feel better than everyone else, and you’ll get all the pussy, you won’t be the sad, pathetic, unfulfilled loser that you are now”.



You will never break that peer pressure of the ‘cool board’ on Top Gear (hopefully you won’t understand what I’m referring to by this, in which case you count yourself to be relatively fortunate).

This appears for me but I was getting the same results on TPV channel, SZ posts appearing when I sign in as SZ, when I checked in with my personal one they didn't appear.
Do some channels disable linking in the comments?
