Quite ironic...
Pastor delivers anti-gay rant, suggests building electric fence around ‘queers and homosexuals’

*You can watch the video of his sermon by going to the provided link at the bottom of this post.

A North Carolina pastor's disturbing anti-gay sermon has gone viral, and it's easy to see why.
In a rant delivered just days after President Barack Obama's historic public support for same-sex marriage, the pastor, Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, N.C., suggested rounding up all "queers and homosexuals" and quarantining them inside an electric fence.
"I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers," Worley told churchgoers on May 13. "Build a great big large fence—50 or 100 mile long—put all the lesbians in there. Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can't get out. And you know what, in a few years, they'll die out. Do you know why? They can't reproduce!"
"It makes me pukin' sick to think about," Worley added. "Can you imagine kissing some man?"
Worley's comments—while shocking—are sadly not uncommon for pastors in North Carolina, a state that voted overwhelmingly in favor of a constitutional amendment defining marriage "as solely between a man and a woman."
Earlier this month, Ron Baity, founding pastor of Winston-Salem's Berean Baptist Church and leader of Return America, said gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people should be prosecuted.

"For 300 years, we had laws that would prosecute that lifestyle," Baity said. "We've gone down the wrong path."
Before the state's vote, Pastor Sean Harris of the Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville instructed parents to use force if their kids start acting gay:
So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, "Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do," you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed. Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. OK?

I always point homophobes to the study that shows homophobes are turned on by homosexual porn...then I ask them if they are a homophobe :D

I hate to point this out, Pastor, but this would also apply to any group solely comprised of heterosexual men, or solely comprised of heterosexual women (assuming for the sake of argument that the women can't intravenously inject sperm somehow). If you allowed lesbians and homosexual men to mix in the compounds, then they would likely breed sooner or later.

Frankly, if I lived in North Carolina, living in an electrified compound that no-one could get into would be my ideal lifestyle.

Can anyone spot the flaw in this logic? Or are the beatings and repressing of your child supposed to 'cure' them? :vsad:

I'm sort of impressed that he doesn't just hate gay men, most rabid 'pastors' like this don't think about lesbians so much.

And how anyone can go to that church in good faith and think they're doing what Jesus would want is beyond me. 'Beat the gay out of your child' how very Christ like. :yerright:

What he fails to realise is that this was "our" plan all along, wub. Yes, we'll eventually die out after years of being fed and looked after, surrounded by "our own" and sexually satisfied to our hearts content...but, we'll keep comin'. For EVER and EVER and EVER. And soon, maybe even to a womb near you.

I know, I went from being sarcastic to thinking 'actually, he probably would...' as I was typing. He's an angry, angry man, probably linked to him being secretly gay and not getting that God won't be angry and if he is then God made him that way in the first place. God will care more about him making ugly hate speeches like this and encouraging physical and emotional child abuse.

EDIT from my point of view as a christian anyway. :)

The bible is conflicting on this issue and the faith itself as a result is full of conflict.
This is always why I have had such a derogatory view of religion. It's full of so much bullshit it's unbelievable.
There are those who take a very simplified view of it and stick to what makes sense, fortunately those numbers are growing but it's difficult for decent change to happen under such a ridiculous backwards dogmatic regime.

All the worlds religions cannot be right, this belief set though can be expanded to more than just religion, there's cultural aspects and other belief sets that people have that at times make even less sense than religion.

Nation states, democracy, borders, taxation, fractional reserve banking, trading things that don't exist for a profit...the list is endless the media is just mass madness televised or in print.

Way too much dogma and not enough spirituality and common sense imho.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It's that simple, what else is there after that? :)

As a Christian also I agree 100% merla - IMHO people like that hate-filled pastor seem completely to miss the point about Christ's message being first and foremost one of love, not hateful judgement.

Well, this is it. I actually think, despite the rhetoric, this Pastor is gay-friendly, because...well, none of these people would need that iPhone app that allows one to identify homosexuals any more, would they?!

Also, if anyone could get hold of video footage of the lesbian compound, I would be willing to watch it...

I think that we should round up all the narrow minded batshit crazy bigots seperate them into male and female - put up some electric fence and watch em die out in a few years - seriously this guy and others like him is taking up valuable resources from those that dont' wish to impose their ideology on others. You can bet he would be amongst the first to cry discrimination if he werent free to practice his religion or voice his views... tosser...

I won't derail the thread by getting into the ins and outs of it but there is evidence that Jesus had no problem with gay people and he's who we should be paying attention to (instead of going on about Leviticus) if we claim to be Christians. I have a problem with organised religion too because you get things like this moron and it can be used as a system of control. One of the things christians like to say about god is he knew you before you were born, he knows every part of you down to each hair on your head and loves every one of them, so the same must be true for gay people.

The thing I always think as well is that if Jesus came back to Earth, if the Second Coming happened, people like this Pastor and people like this lot:

...would probably proclaim him to be a false prophet anyway! They'd probably proclaim it to be some sort of Satanic trick and condemn him to Hell! They seem to think everyone else is going to Hell, so what difference would it make?

Thanks for the link, merla - fascinating! Oddly enough, I was just today reading that passage from Matthew about the centurion who asked Jesus to cure his servant/probable lover. Jesus wasn't remotely interested in the chap's sexual orientation, just the depth and genuineness of his faith.

(As an aside, I did promise myself that I'd stay away from any threads with a religious theme on this board, as I was regularly getting my head kicked in (figuratively speaking, that is!) in the religion section in the "other place", but sometimes I just can't help pitching in, lol! I think everyone's too nice here to chuck rotten tomatoes at me anyway! :D )
