Now did he use the candlestick, or the rope? Was it in the study, or the library?

What could constitute an arrest for having documents? I could see him being arrested for theft if he were to take one of the Vatican's priceless artifacts that could feed several thousand starving people; but documents? Surely the Vatican has no hidden or detrimental information that may change the view of their followers, as they are clearly the physical embodiment of god. These scandals crack me up. :D
Form is merely a momentary manifestation of being, not a fixed reality.

History doesn't repeat itself, uninformed people repeat history.

To all progressive endeavors great or small, come unforeseen benefits on a scale larger than most give pause or contemplation of.

Is it incredibly naive of me that my first reaction to this was 'The Pope has a butler?!'?

I know the Vatican is probably the most unGodly and least Jesus like place in all Christendom but seriously? A butler? Are they even trying to pretend to serve God and by extension their fellow man any more?
I've always said the Vatican would be better selling off all that 'priceless' junk and using the proceeds to feed and clothe the needy and disposessed and maybe funding research into cancer cures and what have you if they want to be taken seriously as a spiritual authority. They're far too worldly and hypocritical for me to pay any attention to other than to shake my head in disbelief at some of the things they come out with.

Makes you wonder what on earth those documents were, they sound like they could be pretty scandalous when you hear what the previous leaks said.

What a crazy idea! We can't be having that! They've only just conceded that it's acceptable to use condoms in order to avoid contracing HIV. One step at a time...

lol so true, maybe in another few popes we'll get a bit more progress...

Although if that list of popes is a prophecy then there should only be one or is it two more?

The pope and the vatican church are not normal.

There is just something about them that never sits right

They're about a million miles from normal.

I too don't wish to offend anyone by telling it how it is, but it has to be done.

Organised religion is a BIG part of the problem/s we are facing.

I suppose in these times with the internet, word travels fast and the weirdos are finding it harder to hide even with their amazingly huge level of cronyism.

When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong – faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thought of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to those in a blind rush until it’s too late.
When law and duty are one, united by religion, you never become fully conscious, fully aware of yourself. You are always a little less than an individual.
You cannot avoid the interplay of politics within an orthodox religion. This power struggle permeates the training, educating and disciplining of the orthodox community. Because of this pressure, the leaders of such a community inevitably must face that ultimate internal question: to succumb to complete opportunism as the price of maintaining their rule, or risk sacrificing themselves for the sake of the orthodox ethic.
