Hi Anthony, I am a fan of your posts about these subjects. :)

Basi­cally there is a big lake in Nicaragua which could be reached by a river on the west­ern side and then required just 12 miles portage to reach the Pacific.

I wonder, are you thinking of?:

Lake Nicaragua or Cocibolca or Granada - The lake drains to the Caribbean Sea via the San Juan River, historically making the lakeside city of Granada, Nicaragua, an Atlantic port although it is closer to the Pacific. The lake has a history of Caribbean pirates who assaulted nearby Granada on three occasions.[2] Despite draining into the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean is near enough to be seen from the mountains of Ometepe (an island in the lake).

This is very much on topic, and very, very relevant to current affairs in the world.

I can add some details regarding the Canary Islands, North Africa (the Berber people in the ATLAS mountains), ANDalusia in Spain (with their countrparts the ANTilles in the Caribbean and the ANDES mountains) and more about the megalithic cultures of Northwestern Europe, the Mediterranean (Crete, Cyprus, Malta, Sardinia), Upper Egypt, etc. etc.

Plato related that the Atlanteans had colonies in Europe and North Africa. There were also conflicts.

Atlantis is important to certain occult traditions and it's hardly coincidental that the most powerful military organization of our age is NATO North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

I have to try to remember the context in which I read this (and in which book). I think it was to emphasize the ease with which the Atlantic and Pacific cultures could be linked, quite possibly into a truly global NAVIGATION BASED culture at one time.
