@ abs: Congratulations on getting a job - great news! Hopefully it will be a stepping-stone to bigger and better things! :)

@ irrie: Congrats to you for sending off your CV - hope great things come of it!

I'm afraid that I can't offer any career advice - due to my near-lifelong tendency to keep getting things wrong with me, I haven't really got any career off the ground! Bit of a bummer that! Oh well, to quote someone I can't quite remember the name of, "they also serve who only stand and wait"! (Or in my case, "sit down"!).

I just don't want one. The work ethic isn't in me. I just want the money.. :chuckle:

I'm naturally lazy. & I don't regard it as a fault either :D

Call it 'laid back' rather...sounds better that way doesn't it :chuckle:

Anyway, put it this way, I've had enough of slaving for the wage. Fuck that, done it been there & its bollocks. Just making some other bugger rich, usually some objectionable big corporation.

Nope, from now on I'm gonna be working for me. ;)

Congrats to both of you!

It's heartening to see that your work placements as mods at Sanctum Zone has helped get your Jeremy Kyle watching arses off the couch boost your confidence enough to take this important transition in your lives.

No PM necessary. Everyone knows I've been what could be considered a bum, recently :D

My mum pays for me currently. I come very cheap though, I only eat tinned food etc. :chuckle:

I used to be on the dole, but they wanted me to work for free so I sacked them off.

If you sign off for a bit (just a couple of weeks) then sign back on again, they're off your back with that work program shite for the next 13 weeks ;)

Really? Fuckinell :(

I was signing on for a while last year & was on their so-called 'work programme' (tho all it really meant was having to attend a sort of jobclub at Avanta one afternoon a fortnight lol).

Anyay, then i got a job last summer & worked uptil christmas. Signed on again in january...bingo! No hassle for 13 weeks :D

Thing is too, I could get a job tomorrow & the fuckers know it. Just how I get away with it I really don't know lol :chuckle:

I would say they're almost certainly relieved to deal with a polite and coherent person, as opposed to a rude, aggressive and, shall we say, intellectually-challenged one.

How very dare you! I'll have you know that I have not watched regular TV for well over a year.

And even if I wanted to and could, I would not be watching Mr Kyle as his large forehead makes me uneasy.

Yep that could be it. :D

I always treat people the way I wish to be treated myself. Jobcentre staff no exception.

& it works of course. People respond to it almost every time. How so many people can't seem to get their heads around this very simple life philosophy is beyond me. And they're not all stupid people either are they?

Just ignorant.

Has a lot to do with up-bringing, I think. Although I'm a firm believer that respect is something to be earned, I was taught to be polite, which I generally am until very antagonised.

It sometimes astounds me just how rude job centre staff can be though, although I always try to remember the crap they have to put up with, that only goes so far with me.

If you're rude to me with no due cause, you gon git it.

Yes you're right about the upbringing. If the parents are rude & ignorant then how can their kids possibly know any better? & so it goes on, sad really.

As for the jobcentre staff...I have always found them to be a bit of a mixed bag. They are after all just people. Some (most really) are as sound as a pound once they realise you're polite & aren't going to get aggressive with them...they come out of 'defensive' mode if you like.

The odd one tho..well its like having Sean signing you :chuckle:

I can see his little name badge now. I know they don't have to wear them any more, but I bet he would.

With 'trendsetter as fuck' in smallprint just beneath it.

He would so get punched and no amount of G4 security bods could stop it (and neither would they probably want to).
