220px RWS Tarot 00 Fool

Fool Tarot Card Meaning

Fool Card Symbols
The fool in colorful motley clothes, pack tied to a staff, a small dog, a cliff.

Fool Tarot Story

With all his worldly possessions in one small pack, the Fool travels he knows not where. So filled with visions, questions, wonder and excitement is he, that he doesn't see the cliff he is likely to fall over. At his heel a small dog harries him (or tries to warn him of a possible mis-step). Will the Fool learn to pay attention to where he's going before it's too late?

Fool Tarot Card Meaning
At #0 (or, in some decks, #22, the last card as much as the first of the Majors) the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he needs to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning.

But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. While it's wonderful to be enthralled with all around you, excited by all life has to offer, you still need to watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

Thirteen's Observations on the Fool
As a card, the Fool ultimately stands for a new beginning often involving a literal move to a new home or job. The querent (meaning the sitter, or the one asking the cards for advice) might be starting to date again, or trying out some new activity. There's more than just change here, there is renewal, movement, and the energy of a fresh start.

In the Tarot, cards like The Magician or The Hermit can often stand for the querent or for someone in the querent's life. The Fool, however, usually stands for the querent, himself. They are back at zero, whether that be in romantic affairs, or career, work or intellectual pursuits. Far from being sad or frustrated by having to start over, however, the querent feels remarkably *free*, light hearted and refreshed, as if being given a second chance. They feel young and energized, as excited as a child who has discovered a new toyshop. Who knows what they will find on the shelves?

In addition, they likely have no idea where they're going or what they're going to do. But that doesn't matter. For the Fool, the most important thing is to just go out and enjoy the world. To see what there is to see and delight in all of it.

Unfortunately, this childlike state can make one overly optimistic or naive. A Fool can be a Fool. That business opportunity might not be so surefire or amazing as it seems, and that new lover might not be so flawless.

Like the Fool, you might be so busy sightseeing and imagining the possibilities that you completely miss the fact that you're about to go right off a cliff! The card advises that one listen to that watchful little dog, which might be a concerned friend, a wise tarot reader, someone harassing you from the sidelines, or just your instincts. However exciting new beginnings may be, you still have to watch your step.

The Sun is an image of optimism and fulfilment, the dawn that follows the darkest night. As the source of all life on earth, the Sun represents the source of life itself. The child playing joyfully in the foreground represents the happiness of our inner spirit when we are in tune with our truest Self. He is naked, having nothing to hide. He has all the innocence and purity of childhood. The white horse upon which the child rides represents strength and purity of spirit. The horse is without a saddle and is controlled without the use of the hands. This is a symbol of perfect control between the conscious and subconscious. The child holds an orange banner in his left hand, showing that control has passed from the conscious to the subconscious. The orange banner represents action and vibration, and the rays of the sun represent the same thing. The straight rays are action while the wavy rays represent vibration. The sunflowers in the background represent life and the fruitfulness of the spirit under the nourishment of the Sun. There are four sunflowers, representing the four suits of the Minor Arcana, as well as the four elements. The astrological correspondence to this card is the Sun, of course.

Upright Sun Tarot Card Meanings

The Sun represents success, radiance and abundance. The Sun gives you strength and tells you that no matter where you go or what you do, your positive and radiant energy will follow you and will bring you happiness and joy. People are drawn to you because you can always see the bright side and you bring such warmth into other people’s lives. This beautiful, warm energy is what will get you through the tough times and will help you succeed. You are also in a position where you can share your highest qualities and achievements with others. Radiate who you are and what you stand for. Shine love on those you care about.

You have an innate sense of confidence right now. Life is good, the sun is shining and you are on your way to achieving your goals. The Sun represents that feeling of getting up on Saturday morning, with the whole weekend ahead of you, and you open the curtains with the sun shining on your face. Having struggled through the shadow sides you now know yourself and know where you are heading, and the sun illuminates your path.

The Sun is a ‘yes’ to life! It brings with it luck, wellness, positive consciousness, enthusiasm, attainment and success. It is about embracing your destiny and giving it everything you have got. If you have been having a difficult time, the Sun brings you the message you have been waiting for – that things are going to get better – a lot better! You know that the rain clouds will soon give way to the rays of the sun and you will feel warmed to the soul once again. The Sun is also an energetic card. It reflects a time when you can expect to experience an increase in physical energy, vitality and general positivity. You are bursting with enthusiasm, feeling invigorated and enjoying a wonderful sense of good health.

The Sun reflects the value of simplicity. No elaborate scheming is required but instead, plain and simple is the best option. Experience the freedom and liberation associated with living the simple life and doing what you enjoy most. Get back to the simple pleasures such as spending time with loved ones, getting back to nature, or simply reading a book in your garden! Expect a boost in the right direction and trust that work can and will be done, with relative little effort.

This is a time when you will feel enlightened. You can finally see the path ahead of you and through the hardship you have endured, you have attained a new level of insight and understanding. You may have even had a personal or intellectual breakthrough where you have finally unlocked the key to your fundamental ‘being’.

On a very literal level, the Sun can indicate travel to a warm or tropical climate where you can finally bask in the sun and enjoy the warm rays!

WOW, chand...not sure whether to hug you or burn you as a witch.

I have spent most of the day at work thinking about posting a thread entitled 'How to have the conscious mind communicate with the subconscious'. Then - I come home to find you have already posted this!

I KID YOU, NOT.

As for the rest of it...pretty much detailing the last few months of my life, tbh. I think it's amazing and would like to thank you for taking the time to post.

Screw biscuits, you can have one of these...

Seriously chand...I'm almost crying. Especially re the passing the banner to the subconscious bit.

I've been wrestling with this issue for at least a week, keeping one eye out for hints/validation. I think my conscious mind can now safely accept this as 'proof' and finally stfu.

Thanks again.

Arthurtarot

by Caitlin Matthews

The Spear Realm

Spear Ten Speaks
None gain entrance to me unless they bend their backs with effort.
None can live within me who do not know how to bear their responsibilities with a light step.

4. To explore the Spear Realm, you can stand on the Castle walls and look beyond. If you wish, you can fly over it in the shape of a raven.

tarouterdome.tripod.com/from_the_arthurian_tarot.htm

Questions,
1. What are the nature of the responsibilities that fall on you at this time?
2 . Which of your duties can be delegated to others? Which duties can
only you perform? Which duties are best shared?
3. How can joy and service be best combined in your life this Midsummer?

Meditation

1. Following the Rainbow Path of the Seeker,(the Fool) you arrive at a cross-roads. Northern hemisphere readers take the southern road, southern hemisphere readers take the northern road. Set out in search of the Spear Realm. The Spear Castle, depicted on Spear Ten, is hard to reach and seems to have been built in the era of giants. It takes all your efforts to reach this place.

2. Enter the Spear Castle and explore. Describe what you find. Who is within it?

3. Sunk in the depths of the Spear Castle there is a dark hall wherein day-light never comes. Taking a candle you explore it. Pull down the dark hangings that you find there, the once royal banners, the moth
-eaten tapestries of past greatness. Everything in this hall is mouldering away, its purpose lost. Hanging here also are faded photographs of your own life, depicting the moments of achievement that were full of promise, to which you have not been faithful. Take these down also and add them to your heap of rubbish, unless you really intend to fulfil the promise depicted within them. Now set fire to the heap and see the smoke rise upwards through the flues set in the ceiling, drawn upwards by a great draught. By the light of the great conflagration, you now see the original hall walls. They are painted with tall trees like columns and between them are beautiful scenes. You find paints and brushes. If you wish, you can paint successive scenes, continuations of the moments held in the photographs of your life, or other moments yet to be. (You may wish to draw or paint these scenes on paper after you finish meditating.)

4. To explore the Spear Realm, you can stand on the Castle walls and look beyond. If you wish, you can fly over it in the shape of a raven.

A card for oioioi and the Forum today,

Art Tarot Card Known As Temperance By Jeanbalitarot D4t5fqc

TEMPERANCE

In the traditional Tarot cards the number 14 card is often known as Temperance. I have name my card ART, as in the Crowley deck or the Voyager deck. If you are an Artist, then she is your Goddess.

For this is Dewi Saraswati, a Goddess. She is the divine consort of Lord Brahma the creator of the Universe, thus she is the creative power of Brahma. She represents the energies of the artist, music, learning, books, writing, science, wisdom and beauty. Sara means "essence" and swa means self.

Her vehicle to attainment of divine consciousnesses is the Swan. In her hands she is mixing the elements of Fire and Water, life giving energy , spirit and flesh, which symbolizes Alchemy concepts, she is the Heavenly Alchemist.

The card is the Art of Alchemy. The imagery suggests and asks you to suspend your belief system and allow for magical thinking to occur.

Can you really blend fire and water? You need patience in order to perform magic, to balance the flow of opposites and allow it to occur without pushing the concept. By will power alone we cannot direct the course of events. The Lotus is a symbol for supreme knowledge, of enlightenment.

She is holding a sacred Lontar, a manuscript written on palm leaf, holding secret mantras, knowledge of writing and alchemy/magic formulas.

DESCRIPTION

There are certain people who exude a kind of quiet composure. They may not say much, but they go about their business with an air of calm deliberation. Their presence is comforting because they are so centered. For me, this is the energy of Temperance.

To be temperate is to show moderation and self-restraint. In a world full of enticing indulgences, it is often necessary to find the middle ground. Sensible, maybe, but also a bit boring? The energy of Temperance may seem unexciting on the surface, but it is the calm of a hurricane's eye. All around are swirling winds, but in the center is a still point that brings everything into balance.

In readings, Temperance can represent a need for moderation, especially when extreme cards are present (such as the Knights). This card can also indicate a need for balance. In conflict situations, Temperance suggests that compromise and cooperation are vital. Look for any opportunity to bring opposing parties together. In fact, to temper can mean to modify by adding a new component. By combining and recombining, we come up with the ideal mixture or solution. Temperance is the card of good health in all areas - physical, mental and emotional. When illness or dis-ease is a concern, Temperance holds out the promise of vitality and well-being.

Here it is Evie, although the above card, TEMPERANCE also applies, because I took it for everyone in the Forum.
Hope it says something to you, in this time of your life.
Best to you.

THE STAR

The Star

Put yourself in the place of the fool at this stage of his strange journey through life. After his encounters with the great teachers, his decisions to follow a spiritual path to enlightenment, and having to deal with issues of love and all of the other worldly issues that come along, he has just been through some very bad times.

The symbolism on this card is everywhere. We have a fair unclothed woman pouring liquid, we assume water from pitchers held in both hands. One foot is in a pool of water and from her right hand she pours water into the pool. Her knee rests on the earth and from her left pitcher the water flows on the ground.

Around her the earth is green and there are signs of new life. A bird rests in a tree in the background. Above the maiden’s head is a large eight-pointed star. Circling this are seven smaller stars, each of these with eight points.

So what are we seeing here? Remember that in the Ryder-Waite Tarot decks, flowing water represents a universal subconscious, or psychic energy. The woman is pouring more of this precious water into the pool. She also is pouring it onto the dry land and it separates into five rivulets, representing the five senses. The land represents the material world.

She is balanced with her feet on both dry land and the pool. The bent leg on the earth supports her weight while her right foot rests on the water of the subconscious. Thus she is balanced while also remaining grounded. She appears in her natural state. What you see is complete. There are no hidden secrets under her robes.

The star has always been symbolic of an important message of hope. It was a star that brought the message of the birth of Jesus in the Bible story. Notice that all of the stars radiate eight points. The eighth card in the Tarot deck is the Strength card. The number 17 also points to Strength (7 + 1 = 8). The seven smaller stars represent the seven chakras, thus calling upon the Fool to open his chakras and cleanse his aura.

Everything in the card has a message. The bird in the tree in the background is the sacred ibis of thought, roosting in the tree of the mind.

To summarize, The Star is a card of hope, harmony and balance. Because it follows the Tower card, it represents the end of a period of change and turmoil.

Like the woman in the Temperance card, this woman holds containers of water in both hands. But she is pouring the water out to nourish the earth and continue the cycle of fertility. The waters pouring from the pitchers are never-ending.

The sky is clear blue, a symbol of inspiration, creativity and aspiration. The maiden is surrounded by green, a color of healing.

Our Fool thus finds himself at an oasis of creative inspiration, a place of healing and renewal.

LOL.
What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: Our life is the creation of our mind.

People have always looked to the stars as a source of inspiration and hope. There is something about their twinkling light that draws us out of ourselves and up into a higher plane. When we turn our eyes heavenward, we no longer feel the distress of earth. The Star reminds me of the clear, high voice of a soprano. There is something otherworldly about it. All the harshness and density of everyday life has been refined away leaving only the purest essence. After being exposed to the Star, we feel uplifted and blessed.

In readings, the Star is most welcome when grief and despair have overwhelmed us. In our darkest moments, we need to know that there is hope, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. The Star is the opposite of the Devil who strips us of our faith in the future. Card 17 holds out the promise that we can eventually find peace of mind. The Star also reminds us to open our heart and release our fears and doubt. If you have been holding back in any way, now is the time to give generously.

It is important to remember that the Star is inspiring, but it is not a card of practical solutions or final answers. Truly without hope we can accomplish nothing, but hope is only a beginning. When you see Card 17, know that you are on the right track. Your goals and your aspirations are blessed, but to realize them, you must take positive action. Use the light of the Star to guide you in your efforts.
The light has begun shining at the end of the tunnel.

Hope springs anew for guidance & inspiration. Truth demands a blending of heart & mind.

Ambitious anticipation is your motivation now. Listen to your inner vice. Don't limit yourself.
Hope, rebirth, guidance & direction are highlighted. Cultivate a positive attitude.

Peaceful contemplation. The star of the soul, lighting the way from within. Stilling oneself, listening. Replace restlessness with faith.
Develop a relationship with neighbors.

Overcoming problems strengthens character.
