It's interesting actually, as I rarely think of it myself, being so used the modern money-generating version of what 'Pride' has become. At it's core though, it has always and will always be about this image, for me. And may it ever be so, cantankerous Westminster council (and Boris) be damned!!

I do think people talk about it a lot more these days (cue theories of trying to make everyone in the world gay via tv) but the rough stuff is still out there, particularly in other countries. It's just not the sort of stuff that makes the news that often.

Have to say, I don't recall having one word that meant 'shit' when I was in school. Apparently these days though, that word is "gay". So yeah...maybe we've moved on, but not that much.

Personally, I think it's probably a cyclical thing, as with everything. There have been times in history when it wasn't even an issue, not because nobody was gay but because it just wasn't that important. Still isn't, all things being equal. It only really becomes important when you're told you're not allowed to be what you evidently are.

Did this years eurovision not cause a bit of stir because the country who was hosting it regularaly made life extremely difficult for gay people?

If you take football for instance, there must be players who are gay but it still seems all 'hidden' which is a shame . People should just be who they are and be proud of who they are

Just thought you'd all like to know...I did saunter up to London to have a nose today and do you know who had the brass balls to not only sponsor the event, but also appear in the 'march'?

I appreciate there's a difference tween the actual bankers and the traders, but still, a bastard is a bastard in terms of corporate sponsorship. I did have to giggle though, as their section of the march seemed to sprint round a bit faster than everyone else. I've a feeling they had stuff chucked at them.



Tell you what really pissed me off though, in previous years, you were able to watch the acts that appear on the stage in Trafalgar Square from any of the streets that surround that area. This year, they cordoned off the whole bloody lot with six foot fencing that you couldn't see through. This meant that in order to see the acts and speakers, you had to enter the actual square, have your bags searched and bin any alcohol or drinks (not sure if they were making people chuck food) that you brought with you. Which in turn, means that you had to purchase new alcohol and drinks from the very expensive stands located within the permitted Square enclosure.

Tricksy bastards, eh?

I, of course, managed to secure a fairly sizeable bottle of vodka about my person and smuggle it in.
