...because they drag you down to their level and beat you with stupidity every time.

I say this because there has been and will be people who will post inflammatory threads and posts just for the sake of doing that. There may be more to the intent. The best way to avoid turning this place into the pit that the DIF has become is simply not to respond. The thread will sink, and after a while with no one posting, perhaps it will just be removed. We all know what is healthy, respectful debate, and we all know what isn't. Let's self police in the sense that we respond to one and not the other. These endless cyclical arguments and games of "one upmanship/get the last word in" are pointless.

I couldn't agree with you more. One of the reasons I stopped posting at DIF was because all the good threads were getting buried beneath all the bullshit, bickering and trolling.
