I was in a local library earlier today, and like most libraries that have a DVD lending section, and as I was in the queue waiting to speak to a member of staff, I saw that the following film was available:

Obviously the basic idea of mashing together Jaws and Jurassic Park is pretty terrible, but I didn't realise quite how bad it was. It scored 2.1 on IMDB:

But based on the trailer, I would really question whether it deserved such a high mark:

The title says "Dinosaur from the deep". That's misleading because it's clearly a Shark It should just say "Shark from the deep"

p.s. I remember when snakes on a plane came out and blockbuster already had snakes on a train. So much money is made off of grand parents etc buying that movie that little Tommy was asking about. You know they change the title a little and make a buck.

Going Overboard.. it's a little known film starring young Adam Sandler. Just awful..

Then I watched it again as a teenager on Mystery Science Theater 3000 while smoking a doobie!

I liked it much better the second time...

Maybe it's just me, but old B-movies are highly entertaining; modern B-movies leave something to be desired. Maybe it's the shitty computer effects that have ruined B-movies...

I think these days, the modern B movies are more like nods to B movies, sort of self aware. I'm just guessing here I could be wrong

Real effects, models, blood and gore, etc. will always be better than computer generated stuff, always. CGI doesn't cut the mustard, never has, probably never will. We don't see films like The Evil Dead, or Dawn Of The Dead these days. I'd love to see a return to that old way of making films, especially horror.
