You know, I don't like leaders or authority, but at least back the day these guys needed bottle. Alexander the great was a paranoid, homicidal, alcoholic nutcase but at least in deciding to go on an invasion rampage he was in the thick of battle, he was leading the cavalry and on one occasion went over a city walls first when his men were too scared to stir them into action. Henry V was actuallt at Agincourt leading his boys and before he was even king he'd been shot through the face by an arrow and permanently disfigured. This isn't stuff to idolise, but I agree with you about the rones and think another component is the way people are sent to die by men in suits sitting in safety thousands of miles from the action. When Blair declared we were invading Iraq, he should have been on the front line. It's only fair, right? It's not like there isn't scores of other suits to take these chumps' place if they buy it.

This is how ridiculous it gets .........

What the FUCK?!?

Well in that case I want a Victoria Cross for playing Skyrim - I was sat at a computer screen just the same and killed multiple dragons with my bare pixelated hands. I shall write to the queen and demand it. Particularly as no actual dragons were harmed, unlike brown people facing death from above.

Christ almighty. It's like getting achievements on Steam. Kill 100 foriegners from your terminal and unlock the 'killing foreigners' achievement.

And that guy saying it 'takes bravery to take someone's life' from your PC screen. That commentator had it down there.

God bless America.

Yea they might as well add video games to the Olympics this year.

We can only hope they'll start releasing drones with as many bugs in their software as the average computer game has at launch these days. Then they'll need several patches before they're able to bomb anybody.

"Drone pilots" might actually be a halfway decent name for a band.

How is this not a bad thing when people get rocks thrown at them and set on fire while everyone in the village cheers as they watch that person burn to death. All because they were thirsty and stole a can of soda. No need to post the videos because we all know these things are still happening in the 3rd world.

Excuse me?? Nowhere did I say that any kind of violence is good for anybody. I meant that the thing about tribal feel, the self preservation, protecting your own is good. But brutal insane violence, no way. Not all tribal people are violent or barbaric, not even close.. Look at natives of your own country for example.

hey man, i was just thinking about that too. primitive and tribal has a lot of important lessons to teach us about unity, endurance, and living in harmony with nature.

People's natural need for protective 'extended family' can and is being used for nefarious purposes, has been for very long time... Just as what peeps have said in this thread, gangs are quite typical example of this. And most gang people seem to be quite fucked up. In my town there's a motorcyclegang, luckily there's only few of them, damn thugs...

That's the reason I made the thread title why are some people still primitive & tribal?

The world has been around a long time why are some places more violent then others?

Just to add to some of the great answers already here, it's because we are animals. We come by that behaviour naturally. Even though we've evolved, we still retain very basic core tendencies.

We can move past this type of behaviour, we have the gift of rationale and individual thought, we also have a moral compass that points us to right and wrong. Most of us.......

There is nothing more tribal or more primitive than gated communities, the uniformed efficiency of street lamps is tribal and primitive, but nowhere in the same degree as gated communities, urrgh I hate them.

Firstly, obviously this is absolutely atrocious. The people that did this...well. I don't know what should happen to them but I wouldn't want it to be nice. It's just so sad and wrong.

But, I'm not sure it's a particularly good example in the context of this thread. The reasons why things like this happen in South Africa aren't to do with tribalism. They are rather more akin to an abused child becoming a child abuser. There are many in South Africa whose minds have literally cracked as a result of the previous regime imposed on them. That has nothing to do with tribalism or "primitive" culture.

I'm not sure if I'd let them off that easily with the whole appartheid thing dub. They raped the boys mother then shot her, killed the father, then drowned the lad in a bath of boiling water. To me, that's pure evil, and not the result of a cracked mind.

This whole story was in the Daily fail, earlier... millions of horrible stories of awful things happening.
Just too awful to think of, even if those creeps wanted to drown him, at least use cold water.
There were lots of answers... from people that live in South Africa, too, they were also horrified. This is not the norm. It is just creeps that do this.

There are so many unbelievable yuk going on around the world. If we can do nowt about it, best to keep your thoughts somehow positve or else u too will get dragged down ...
Nobody has any answers ...

except to look within.. but almost nobody does that.
