I am, I believe, naturally a night time person. My job most of the time makes me get up really early in the morning. So while I am working I tend to find myself up at around 4.30 or 5 am and then I come home from work and eat etc. You might think that I would go to bed early but for some reason I hate to just come home eat then go to bed so I usually stay up too late and then by the weekend or whenever my day off is I find myself sleeping in late and becoming nocturnal. I got laid off recently(it is the nature of my job that I work for a number of employers each year and I now find myself awake at 4 a.m.

I think I am naturally a night person but wonder why that is and why I can`t seem to change it. Maybe It can be fixed?

I have always drifted into being up later and later. Oddly I do really enjoy sleep I just don`t seem to enjoy going to bed. It is weird and messed up . Oddly now at 4.17 writing this I might turn in. Now I am telling myself that I will wake up in the morning at a decent hour. How will I do I wonder.

I have always preferred the night. It's so much quieter.
My body clock must be a cheap, useless, Taiwanese knock off.
On average I sleep 4-5hrs per day and often not all in the same block.
Once in a while, about every 4-6wks my sleep camel hits the oasis and fills up with a 14hr or so run.
I wake from that feeling horrible, literally like a savage hangover.

Story of my adult life right there. ^

I can't sleep regularly, if I try to lay down at say 10pm and sleep till 8am it won't happen, plus the hard part is our bodies go through a wake up period physically starting about 3am because we are not nocturnal, that's why a person on the late shift never seems to catch their rest, even if they sleep when they get off in the morning and even take afternoon naps before going in to work all night you just feel tired all the time.

I am a night person...I hate the mornings and it takes me at least half an hour to get out of bitch-mode.

:D Bitch mode :couch:

I don't have a regular pattern really. The other day I was awake for 24 hours, the day after that 21 hours. I went to bed last night at around 7pm but woke up at about 1am, tossed and turned for an hour or two trying to go back to sleep, but that was futile so I just got up.

I'm generally okay in the mornings or whenever I wake up, almost cheery :chuckle: the cat helps with her morning yeowlings and greetings :cat:

Feather, what you say about your sleeping pattern, it's exactly how it is for me. Except that I usually sleep like 5-8 hours... then comes a three night period when I can't sleep at all(this happens usually at fullmoon.), and after that there's the crazy 14hour sleeping marathon and the resulting 'hangover'

I like nights, it's peaceful and quiet and the energy is a lot cleaner somehow, the feel outside specially is.... hard to describe, but there's something nice when there's no people around. 2am to 4:30am is the best time to hang outside, that's when most people are asleep. maybe it's that their minds are absent, so no shitty energies are about. :chuckle:

A lot of people here seem to be night people.

I revert to the same btw in my natural state, if you take away work and other obligations.

For many years I did nothing but get up at around 4 in the afternoon, eat junk food, biscuits, watch the X-Files and Star Trek TNG, play loads of games, drink loads of tea, and go to bed in the morning. Good times :chuckle:

My sleeping pattern is more like a vampires than anything :D . I feel so weak and crappy during the day but as soon as night arrives i'm buzzing :norty: As others have said I love the peace and whole atmosphere of the night. Especially the feel in the air around the spookier hours around 3am. I've tried so hard to be a 'normal' daytime person but it just doesn't work for me at all. I love night time, it's calmness, stillness, less people around means less distraction and clearer thoughts and less hassle

Now this! You're talking about me too, aren't you? :D

I forgot to mention earlier that I have this thing too, I get energised when the night is closing.. Also most of the inspiration for lyrics and music come at nights. I'm trying to get a rehearsal room in which I can go play at any hour, there's many nights when I SHOULD go play drums.

Yes :D
I totally agree  Creative, artistic people often get the most inspiration during late night and early morning hours, that would explain why a lot of musicians, artists stay up all night as they are more likely to feel this energy. They tune in more as there is less intereference in the air from other people. A lot of musicians say their best work manifests at these hours.
