In Defence Of The Thinner Girl. A Lecture by cantata
Okay. So.
When I was a teenager, I needed money to train with my beloved horses. I found some work as a waitress for about £1.25 an hour back then (it was a while ago

)... and I almost took that, except I was asked to do some modelling (at £50 an hour back then). Well, D'uh... do the maths!
I was no raving beauty but I was NATURALLY like a rake with waist-length blonde hair. I didn't have to diet - damn, I had to eat to keep weight on (and still do).
The "clients" weren't interested in my face or even the shape on my body parts (some of the girls were bandy, had nobbly knees and others had big hands or big feet - no matter). What the "clients" wanted was the "coat hanger" - preferably broad shoulders for the clothes to hang off and little stopping the material's fall.
You were taught to walk, turn and "show" in an exaggerated (today, almost aggressive) manner, to get and keep the material moving. Otherwise, you could have just wheeled out a rack of clothes on the hangers for everyone to have a look.
It was, and still its, ALL about the clothes on show. And so, as you got older, or fatter or more developed (which some of us didn't, lolol) you had to bow out and let the next thin girl take over. That was a fact pretty much understood from the start and a good few of us got to earn some good money for a couple or so years and set ourselves up in what it was we really wanted to do in life.
And then off we went, still skinny - and it's just who we are. Take us, leave us, but hey, lolol, we had a good time from it mainly.
