I am with you about keeping on talking and sharing information both with those interested in conspiracy and those who aren't - for me the last few months and particularly the advent of this place has cemented my view that chatting about stuff in the right environment is as important as the chatting itself - otherwise there is too much distraction, negativity and division.

If I think about what it is that prevents people from opening their minds to alternatives it is either fear of the unknown, they are doing pretty well out of this reality or they just cannot visualise a viable alternative.

For me it is through talking together, re-establishing bonds with our fellow human beings and creating positive, helpful and friendly communities, that we will increase the chances of change that people want to see coming about.

That does start with the individual and grows as more individuals see in each other that seed of an idea to live in a different way.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Undoubtedly 9/11 has opened up many peoples minds to the world - my point isnt that it is unimportant - more that once you can say - ok there is something in that and are open to ther possibilities any more time spent on it is rather like hitting your head against a brick wall - its all speculation and we will probably never know with any degree of certainty exactly what went down and by whom.

Chatting about it and theorising is cool - much like putting together a puzzle - but in and on its own - talking about it all day and arguing over what happened does nothing of any value other then create suspicion and distrust - which if you are already open to the idea that there was something dodgy going on you will have acquired a healthy dose of already.

I agree to an extent, and the youtube style rants about the subject of 9/11 are not for me and are totally destructive and counterproductive. I guess im talking about the people who, like myself, were unable to put their finger on what was fishy about the event (and others) and can suddenly see the 'controlled demolition' (or distinct possibility of a controlled demolition) for what it was, and then that gets the foot in the door and all of a sudden can see the war on terror for what it is. After that the mind is out of the box, and after that there is no going back. So if it was/wasnt an inside job, for many it is an opportuinty to penetrate past media conditioning and get people questioning everything.

Totally agree that showing an alternative way to live is essential (else people have no reason to abandon the status quo if there are no viable alternatives) and to inspire others. But I do think the conspiracy stuff is important, afterall, the whole reason they want to shut the internet down us to stop pesky internet nerds from spreading 9/11 truth and whistleblowing other stuff, as opposed to feeling threatened by the nice community based stuff.

The conspiracy community is a broad church and it's easy to dismiss the whole because of the comments, theories and presentations from the outer edges.

I also believe there are many who have become addicted to fear and drama and will find significance in the way their Shreddies fall into their breakfast bowl to satisfy that craving.

In my opinion Alex Jones feeds off that. No-one can be that angry, that often!
That style of presentation offers nothing but panic and helplessness as a response.

David Icke proposes reptilians from another dimension playing games with us and sucking our energy.
For me that draws a similar response. Just how are you supposed to counter that?

I also feel those approaches can justify a feeling of resigned abdication. You just have to sit back, fingers crossed and hope the outcome isn't too insufferable.

Or we can drop those discussions, look at how we might change what we have grown or been indoctrinated to accept and act to change things.

Most people will acknowledge that powerful people are controlling their lives in negative ways. Let's stop giving them mystical titles like Illuminati which implies or confers superhuman or occult powers upon them and start calling them what they are, greedy, self-serving bastards who do not care one scintilla for anyone outside their own circle.

They must be recognised and outed for the dangerous people they are and their power and influence must be curtailed. No ifs ands or buts.
Let's not fall into the trap of focusing their religious or ethnic links, that is a created diversion which weakens the case and allows them to scream "persecution!".

The answer really is in each of us at the moment to talk and analyse calmly the facts then present them in ways which makes them hard to dismiss easily.

At the moment the media presents suited, prepared and coached executives on one side and hapless, inarticulate, ill-prepared, drum-beating hippies on the other side. Given those options Joe Public will go with the devil he thinks he knows.
That has to change.

True, but there will always be dumb people. Unfortunately, it tends to be the wrong type of people who shout the loudest, and attract the most attention and thus tar the other less neurotic people with the same brush. So people equate 'conspiracy' with being some kind of nut. part of that is by design I think. But also, people often go though a 'phase' of being addicted to the drama, then settle down.

In my opinion Alex Jones feeds off that. No-one can be that angry, that often!

Not me. I just find him amusing and entertaining, but thats possibly because i dont really listen to the content all that much, but fear is the last thing he inspire in me.

David Icke proposes reptilians from another dimension playing games with us and sucking our energy.
For me that draws a similar response. Just how are you supposed to counter that?

As for Icke, his theories just confirm my own subjective experiences about the nature of reality and also helped me to fill in some missing links. The reptillian thing really wasnt a big leap for me personally, so i guess it depends what coordinates you currnetly have. Its like that saying about reading a book for a second time; its not that you see things that werent there before, but rather you see things that werent in you before. Thats how it was for me anyway. But if you have all the coordinates to thoroughly understand the reptillian influence, then you also immediately fully understand how simple it is to counter their influence so again, i dont feel fear. there is a bit of "whoa, the rabbit hole is that deep?" type of thing, but ts all an adventure to me.

I also feel those approaches can justify a feeling of resigned abdication. You just have to sit back, fingers crossed and hope the outcome isn't too insufferable.

There will always be defeatist people, but isnt it better to be aware and afraid, than just basking in a false sense of security that is spoon-fed to the unconscious masses by evil cooporations who will pull the rug from their feet at any moment.

Or we can drop those discussions, look at how we might change what we have grown or been indoctrinated to accept and act to change things.

I agree, and its too easy to get caught up in a perpetual cycle of all the un-winnable conspiracy debates. Ive never been in to that anyway, except for a bit of sport when im bored or need distraction.
People need to be shown an alternative way to live, and to be shown that there is a better way, but for me, the purpose of doing that is simply to overcome what is IMO the biggest hurdle to our progression/evolution which is disbelief in human nature. If people can be shown that some humans do care, and want to create something better (and are prepared to cooperate instead of compete and to want genuine unity and equality) then it might ignite something in them. In truth I dont think it will make a change in the way people think it will. The world is too tangled and there is too much hatred for everyone to forgive and forget and learn to cooperate. On a practical level the west has too many enemies and even if we in the west figured out a better way to live, im not too hopeful the rest of the world would just sing round the camp fire. Im more a believer in a global consciousness shift which will create a hundredth monkey syndrome. Otherwise we're stuffed, as even though people know they want soemthing better, its impossible to all agree on a manifesto of some sort (not that i think we should anyway as that defeats the point of being alive!)

What a sensible, level-headed lot you all are.

I agree with most sentiments expressed so far, especially with feathered who mentions the 'divisions' that certain theories can throw up - always a wake up call for me.

I'm very much of the thinking it has always and will always be 'us' against 'us'. That's kind of the point, if you like.

Yes, its us against us, kind of. Whilst I find Alex Jones entertaining, he isnt really enlightening.
My opinion is some people benefit from having a good, rounded understanding of how the conspiracy operates (and have a bit of fun learning about it too), but ultimately its a means to an end and the real work needs to be done by us, on ourselves. Not blaming the elite, jews, reptillians or whoever - just getting on with things and having clear vision. Something like that anyway.

Exactly why I'd never bother with DIF, Prison Planet, and quite a few other forums out there. A lot of people are cashing in on the fear factor.

My definition of 'shill' is a person that claims to 'represent' the 'truth movement' but is actually only using it to further a financial or political agenda. And as it stands now, it seems quite apparent to me that 'Conspiracy Theorists' are being pushed into a nice little comfy box where they can endlessly debate 9/11, and many other issues, but be shepherded away from any school of thought that advocates meaningful, positive action.

I agree with what others have said here re 9/11, and, as I've pointed out on DIF, more than a few times, of course 9/11 is the litmus test, the big first step in a person opening their eyes and seeing what the rest of us see. It makes me sick to think of people that have just managed to take that leap of faith, only to arrive at places like DIF and end up scared and utterly confused by the nonsense that is being spouted daily. I think it's fair to say that DIF today could scare most newbies straight back to Eastenders and The Sun in seconds.

Beware the apathy machine!

Anyways... that's my two pennys!

Nice post Ab!

Ab Origine wrote:
Somebody asked me the other day why I think the way I do. When I asked them what they mean, they replied that I always seem suspicious, particularly about news in the msm and anything to do with the government. I could only reply that it takes years of practice and it's not really something I even have to think about anymore...it just sort of happens.

We talked a bit about how someone gets to that point, but generally, I explained that I was actually perfectly happy thinking the way I do, and that it really wasn't that bad a thing for me, personally. They were concerned that I must get overwhelmed or depressed about everything a lot, but I explained that increasingly, for me anyway, it's just the way the world is/has always been. I had to concede however, that it can get bad for some and perhaps some people just choose to turn their backs on it all completely and return to the "normal" life they had before (although, I've never understood this and would think it would be pretty impossible).

It occurred to me that although I don't necessarily think I 'think' any different than anyone else, there are some steps I take, not on a conscious level admittedly, before forming opinions on things, especially msm stories and politics-wise.

*The most important thing you can ever do, whether or not you're into conspiracy: EVALUATE YOUR SOURCES! It never ceases to amaze me how many people just take everything they read or hear as gospel sometimes, particularly if it comes from an institution like the BBC, for example. I have realised I'm usually always "looking for the money" when evaluating such material. For example, who would gain from me thinking a certain way about this issue.

Invariably, you end up with a much more interesting story than the "piece" your were watching or reading about when you look at it from this angle. People used to tell me that money makes the world go round, and I never really got that until quite recently. Everything can, if you take the trouble to evaluate it reasonably, be traced back to the money element. Need a motive? Probably has something to do with money. Not always...but usually.

*I'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last. This is sometimes comforting, in an odd "I'm not the only one" way. Before I ever started thinking about things like alternative history and cover-ups, I read quite extensively and was aware of the influence that popular culture has over most of us. It wasn't until I actually became interested in conspiracy, that I started to realise that there are actually themes and recurrances running through most literature and even Hollywood sometimes. It's almost as if voices from the past are sending out warnings or confirmations that things have really always been the same. Some of my favourite books or films invariably have some political or humanistic message that I was completely oblivious to the first time around.

*Don't sweat the small stuff. In fact, don't "sweat" any of it. There is little you can achieve by panicking or shouting about things. Get angry by all means, but eventually you'll come to realise you can actually achieve a lot more when you're not in a state of anger or frustration. Let that be your catalyst, if you like, but learn from it and move on.

*The "Fear Factory". This is quite important. It soon became apparent to me that human beings are really very simple in their thinking for the most part. This can make us very easy to manipulate or control sometimes. Fear is extremely effective in controlling people's actions. Whenever I start to feeling 'the fear', my alarm bells automatically get activated. Return to point 1. Someone, somewhere has produced this piece of literature, artwork, film - whatever, and it could be that this fear I'm feeling is by design. For what purpose would someone want me to be fearful about this? Who would benefit from inciting that fear? As mentioned above, you'll usually find yourself right back at the money angle, but sometimes there may be different motives behind it.

That's my conspiracy-think in a nutshell, anyway. I'm not saying it solves all my problems, far from it. But it does help me consider life from a very different stand-point than most other people I know. I don't know where it came from or if I even have actually just always thought like this, but there it is. Certainly, it has helped me avoid some of the pit-falls we all come across and has actually been quite invaluable in terms of gauging people and personalities.

For example, you'd be pretty amazed at just how many people you know who work entirely from a place of manipulation. If you really sit and analyse their behaviour and motives, I mean. You might say it's just another human trait, but I know plenty of people who don't do it at all. I pretty much avoid those that do. Even if they are doing it on some sub-conscious level, it's still not a good thing for me and gets my back up no end. Many of these people will be relatives too, unfortunately. They may not be aware that they are doing it and maybe they are just responding to their own "conditioning" and can't really be blamed for that. What have you got to lose by pointing it out to them, though?

Anyway...next time someone asks me why I think the way I do, I can drop the pointers above before them and they can make of it what they will. Maybe it might at least make them think about why they think they way do too.

This is just a general "introduction" to conspiracy-think, if you like. Feel free to add anything you think might be of benefit and as ever, thanks for reading!

Just re read this and I have to say, pure bloody brilliance Abs.
