Somebody asked me the other day why I think the way I do. When I asked them what they mean, they replied that I always seem suspicious, particularly about news in the msm and anything to do with the government. I could only reply that it takes years of practice and it's not really something I even have to think about anymore...it just sort of happens.

We talked a bit about how someone gets to that point, but generally, I explained that I was actually perfectly happy thinking the way I do, and that it really wasn't that bad a thing for me, personally. They were concerned that I must get overwhelmed or depressed about everything a lot, but I explained that increasingly, for me anyway, it's just the way the world is/has always been. I had to concede however, that it can get bad for some and perhaps some people just choose to turn their backs on it all completely and return to the "normal" life they had before (although, I've never understood this and would think it would be pretty impossible).

It occurred to me that although I don't necessarily think I 'think' any different than anyone else, there are some steps I take, not on a conscious level admittedly, before forming opinions on things, especially msm stories and politics-wise.

*The most important thing you can ever do, whether or not you're into conspiracy: EVALUATE YOUR SOURCES! It never ceases to amaze me how many people just take everything they read or hear as gospel sometimes, particularly if it comes from an institution like the BBC, for example. I have realised I'm usually always "looking for the money" when evaluating such material. For example, who would gain from me thinking a certain way about this issue.

Invariably, you end up with a much more interesting story than the "piece" your were watching or reading about when you look at it from this angle. People used to tell me that money makes the world go round, and I never really got that until quite recently. Everything can, if you take the trouble to evaluate it reasonably, be traced back to the money element. Need a motive? Probably has something to do with money. Not always...but usually.

*I'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last. This is sometimes comforting, in an odd "I'm not the only one" way. Before I ever started thinking about things like alternative history and cover-ups, I read quite extensively and was aware of the influence that popular culture has over most of us. It wasn't until I actually became interested in conspiracy, that I started to realise that there are actually themes and recurrances running through most literature and even Hollywood sometimes. It's almost as if voices from the past are sending out warnings or confirmations that things have really always been the same. Some of my favourite books or films invariably have some political or humanistic message that I was completely oblivious to the first time around.

*Don't sweat the small stuff. In fact, don't "sweat" any of it. There is little you can achieve by panicking or shouting about things. Get angry by all means, but eventually you'll come to realise you can actually achieve a lot more when you're not in a state of anger or frustration. Let that be your catalyst, if you like, but learn from it and move on.

*The "Fear Factory". This is quite important. It soon became apparent to me that human beings are really very simple in their thinking for the most part. This can make us very easy to manipulate or control sometimes. Fear is extremely effective in controlling people's actions. Whenever I start to feeling 'the fear', my alarm bells automatically get activated. Return to point 1. Someone, somewhere has produced this piece of literature, artwork, film - whatever, and it could be that this fear I'm feeling is by design. For what purpose would someone want me to be fearful about this? Who would benefit from inciting that fear? As mentioned above, you'll usually find yourself right back at the money angle, but sometimes there may be different motives behind it.

That's my conspiracy-think in a nutshell, anyway. I'm not saying it solves all my problems, far from it. But it does help me consider life from a very different stand-point than most other people I know. I don't know where it came from or if I even have actually just always thought like this, but there it is. Certainly, it has helped me avoid some of the pit-falls we all come across and has actually been quite invaluable in terms of gauging people and personalities.

For example, you'd be pretty amazed at just how many people you know who work entirely from a place of manipulation. If you really sit and analyse their behaviour and motives, I mean. You might say it's just another human trait, but I know plenty of people who don't do it at all. I pretty much avoid those that do. Even if they are doing it on some sub-conscious level, it's still not a good thing for me and gets my back up no end. Many of these people will be relatives too, unfortunately. They may not be aware that they are doing it and maybe they are just responding to their own "conditioning" and can't really be blamed for that. What have you got to lose by pointing it out to them, though?

Anyway...next time someone asks me why I think the way I do, I can drop the pointers above before them and they can make of it what they will. Maybe it might at least make them think about why they think they way do too.

This is just a general "introduction" to conspiracy-think, if you like. Feel free to add anything you think might be of benefit and as ever, thanks for reading!

Sound advice batou. If only people were as careful about what they put into their brains as they are about what goes in their gob.

Good thread there Ab

I honestly believe that there isn't that many people out there that are willing to accept anything other than they know now and this is what makes alternative news hard to spread. They just do not want to know. Finding the odd person that does is very hard to do without totally alienating yourself.

These days I've become quite reclusive... even though I'm far from a recluse (if that makes sense). I just can't be arsed with people I get extremely bored by far too quickly.

Maybe I've just turned into a grumpy old git

Never!

I hear you 100% about isolating yourself - but I love company. Weirdness. I just can't be arsed anymore because I'm finding it increasingly difficult to relate to whatever new people try and talk to me about.

I suppose I could make more of an effort to keep abreast of things like Eastenders and X Factor, but tbh, I'd rather die a slow and painful death. Most of my family are like that. I wish I could get them interested but it's a non-starter. I still see them but we usually sit in silence or I just nod politely like I'm listening.

In the same vein, why can't other people make more of an effort to be interested in what I'm interested in? It's stuff that may ultimately effect them and their families lives a bit more than a TV programme or latest Apple release, anyway.

Screw you, world!

True dat.

I always stop myself when I'm 'feeling the fear' and try and evaluate exactly where it's coming from.

I got to 'Evaluate sources' and stopped reading. The govt, although I know its full of people proven to be corrupt evil liars who are in the back pocket of multinationals, ultimately has my best interest at heart and wouldnt allow info which is inaccurate or misleading to be sent through my TV box into my head. Or at least I really, really want that to be true because thinking is painful and arduous and i'd much rather let the media do it for me.

Nice breakdown Ab.
(n.b. I can't see any of the posts you've quoted from Batou or Psketti in this thread).

In my view, money is only a token, The desire for power is the root of all evil.

That desire however is rooted in insecurity. The requirement for an abnormal buffer zone of safety. Some people present that psychosis to staggering degrees.

The lengths they go to are indicators to me of how fragile they are.

Money is the tool of all the crap we've had to put up with.
Discussing how to set about abandoning it and alternatives causes most people to have complete brainfarts and enter into severe denial.

Sorry feathered. I can see them fine - is it effecting any other threads for you? If so, you might let novum know. Similar thing was happening to me with images last night.

As for being indicators of how fragile they are, I agree completely. That's always why I'm very guarded when documents are 'leaked' and what not. It's not always the case, but it has to be very convincing to get under my radar. I know from experience that these people rarely do anything for 'nothing', if that makes sense.

That also completely makes sense in terms of recognising people around you working from a place of manipulation. In that, every situation they're involved in, whether or not you realise it at the time, they have a huge hand in it's outcome, even if on the surface they don't appear to be that bothered.

If you call these people out, invariably they flee as it's such a rare occurance for them, or they've never had it happen before, they don't quite know how to handle you. They may very well retaliate by turning others against you in any way they can. It really depends on what they see is 'at risk' and what they think they have to lose.

The psychological aspect is very interesting to me and something I was completely oblivious to for a long time. Being aware of it can help you make sense of the world around you...sometimes.

EDIT: In fact...thinking about it, you only really have to look at what has gone on at the dif lately to see some of this stuff in action.

that makes sense. Money isnt really evil if its used properly (ie as a means of exchange which overcomes the limitations of barter). And as you say, it is the desire for power (to control others) which is the problem, but the root of that problem is insecurity which is the result of fear. So fear=insecurity=need to control=rigged monetary system, or soemthing like that.

@Ab Origine

TBH its hard work and generally fruitless in my experience to try to get through to people. I just say I believe interdimensional lizards maniplulate reality so that they can harvest our low vibration emotions such as fear and hatred and that these beings live in the moon and also underground and also in the ethers. The proof is right in plain sight on the Alfa Romeo logo but I also have a book ready to lend if people seem curious.

What I've noticed about a lot of people who aren't into conspiracies; they're not just not into them, they are vehemently VIOLENTLY not into them. The reaction is often one of pure anger and terror, sometimes going so far as to wish death on anyone who does believe in it. That's always struck me as being really strange. There has to be something going on in the background of that kind of thinking, but I suck at psychology. And yet some psychologists have this hardline anti-conspiracy view,so...is that like a paradox??? I'm confused. :dunno:
The material world is merely a tool. And tools can build, but they cannot create.

Nice op :)

I tend to try and do similar particularly when it comes to evaluating sources and what possible outcomes those sources could be angling towards.

As far as talking to others goes my main problem has been with either apathy or because there are so few attractive alternatives out there to help people see a different way. Its why my focus is on myself and how I live and showing in little ways how things could be different. If folk get inspired by that awesome and if not then it is not my place to enforce my values and lifestyle on them.

The thing about conspiracy for me is that there are so many holes one can fall into that are for me not particularly helpful in changing my life or the lives of others.

9/11 for example - I cannot say for any certainty what happened or who was the cause - and knowing would change nothing.

Arming myself with knowledge as to how to sustain the lifestyle I prefer, without being a burden on others or compromising my values and beliefs is what I am most interested in - speculation as to who is behind what and the why's and where's is a cool distraction on occasion but a distraction for me nonetheless.

So much of conspiracy relies on fear that it too can become detrimental - unless exploring ideas that are both positive and negative with folks who dont make it a more negative experience then is necessary.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

I do agree with you thoreau that sorting ourselves out is primary. I too have gone this path.

However, I'm left with the nagging fact that whilst we choose this path we are leaving the door well and truly open to those that seek to take us further into the shitstorm.....

In truth I feel like those that can see it, SHOULD be chatting very regularly and trying to link up with the minds of those that can't. Only together do we have a chance.

You hit nail on the head by saying its all about leading by example. For me, understanding the conspiracy has been liberating and lifted a huge burden (the burden of not knowing why the world is crazy) and as a result stress levels are low. People round me are knocked hither and thither by stuff on the news, and by world events - but if you know the game plan in advance, it removes the stress factor of an uncertain future. After a while, the people who labelled you as a paranoid conspiracy theorist eventually have to notice that youre actually less crazy and neurotic than everyone else. I say human nature is good and we have awesome potential, whereas the news and worldview says humans are scum, and doomed - so which view is more negative?? People also take more notice when youve been predicting stuff and eventually it comes true, as has happened with Icke.
I disagree about the 9/11 bit though. this has been the elephant in the room which has woken so many from ignorance due to the gaping holes in the story and I have managed to allow others to realise a new perspective after showing them a 9/11 vid and versions of events not shown in mainstream media.

I do agree, but its very easy to dissapate energy and become frustrated if your efforts are misplaced. Maybe 1 in 100 is ready for the truth, or at least the planting of a seed, so if you can get good at recognising who is an 'open door' it will save you wrestling with the other 100 who will fight tooth and nail to hold onto the comfort and failiarity of their conditioned ignorance.
