Very refreshing to hear - though scarily accurate. I'd love to know what the President's response was.

He was really only scratching the surface and I think the thread title may be a tad OTT but all the same, fair bloody play for him standing up and going even that far. Not that any of them will have paid it any heed of course.

Personally I'd suggest that things like tax havens for example take it to another level.

That's not to say I don't think it's important because it obviously is and like I said, fair play to this chap for bringing it up in the Senate

Absolutely agree, the search for the invisibles that is littered all across forums does my swede in. There's enough verifiable, documented stuff to concentrate on.
Totally in agreement also that we need more people like this senator standing up in the places of "power".
I've got mixed opinions on protest, tbh I'm more an advocate of direct action. That's the route I've tended to go down personally. I've been on plenty of marches too and for the most part it's just been a case of taking/giving a few whacks and then watching the media tell whatever story they want afterwards. Rather pointless and often self destructive in the main. Taking direct action however can yield real world results. Can't see a way of taking direct action against things like the MIC though for example.
At this stage I think withdrawing as much of our efforts, labours and support from the system is about the most important thing we can do. It's certainly important to inform ourselves and when we can, others too though. Forums and comments pages are invaluable for that I think personally.

I think we may slightly have crossed wires about what direct action is but the MIC would certainly be a worthy focus of mass protest in any lawful form.
