That was my plan for tonight.

But don't tell anyone.

Do you eat meat, Abs? If so, you can get a quite big packet of minced beef from either Iceland or Asda and a packet of spaghetti/rice, with a couple of tins of sweetcorn and pea to mix in; and make yourself a HUGE spag bol or chilli (buy the own brand jars of spag or chilli sauce, usually less than £1). Usually, it makes enough to feed 4 or 5 people, so you'll have some to freeze for other meals too.

:)

Cheers cantata...I do eat meat, for my sins. Not too keen on spaghetti/pasta though as it tends to annoy my gut.

Catfish? :O

Sounds a bit too exotic for my simple tastes, rick. Thanks for the suggestion though...although, I don't think £4.00 is gonna get me quite what it might in USDs...unfortunately.

Though a nice, cold beer would be lovely right now.

Is catfish really exotic in the UK? Where I come from, it's considered po folks food...which is fine by me; cuz I'm po & it's delicious! MMM....crispy, fried catfish tails....*drool*

I don't really know enough about fish, k, but I've never seen it in my local chippy. Mark you, my local chippy is quite 'posh' with their small bags of chips for £1.50!

Noodling looks fun...kinda scary, though. Not sure I want to stick my hand or foot in any underwater crevices or dark places and let a catfish chomp on me...

Did you all watch that Vice Olympic vid I posted? Apparently...there is an eight foot cat-fish trawling the rivers of London eating ducks.

:O

So, cat-fish may just be back on the menu if I can man up enough to catch the fekker. Who's with me!?

A pity you're not keen on pasta Abs, 'cos I know a really cheap and luscious dish.

You can't beat a corned beef stew for cheap & yummy. You only need corned beef, onion, spuds & a few stock cubes, but you can chuck in any herbs & veg / pulses you have about the place. It's best as a warming winter dish though.

Dont forget if you are really skint you could try bone broth with the left overs.

I got a nice punnet of grapes, which were on sale, some tins of beans and some bread. I know it isn't particularly healthy, but I thought it would at least see me through a few dark and hungry days to come.

Thank you all for your suggestions though. Perhaps you could all take it in turns to have me at your house and feed me in the future? You all sound like you know your stuff.

And I'm not above providing sexual favours in return for food.

Just so you know.

In case you didn't already.

The food bit isn't even that important either actually.
