When I came out of plaster earlier this year, I was of course offered a course of physiotherapy to help me get fit.
Being a daft bloke I shunned it, deciding that I'd spend 2 weeks riding my bike a lot and then get back to work.
Every woman in my life told me this was a stupid idea and that I'd regret it.
It took a bit longer than I thought to be able to get on my bike but basically I followed my plan.
In the last couple of months I've been getting more and more pain and decreased mobility.
This week I decided enough was enough so I went to the doctor.

The doctor gave me a mild telling off for refusing the physio and going back to work too early. I now have to start physio to try and heal the ligament and tendon damage that never properly healed and has in fact been compounded by my blokish idiocy. :emb:

Lets face it, you have no choice but to listen, like it or not.

Unless you happen to be deaf of course. In which case she'd no doubt learn sign language in order to nag :D

Dubs... hope you heal quickly and get better.
Next time though, listen to your doctor, you're not paying him to sit around with his thumb up his bum. It's not often I say that, I dislike doctors, but when ya get a cast off and they say "this will help" and it's not a narcotic, listen.

The emboldened bit would seem to be rather devalued by this:

"Next time though, listen to your doctor, you’re not paying him to sit around with his thumb up his bum"

Lmao... what do you expect Dubs? Want me to sign the friendly advice so it comes across as being nice :D

In all seriousness, and in a friendly manner *evil grin* listen to your doctor and get better, not re-injure something that is probably not 100% healed in the first place. I wish you well on your recovery.

The only sign language we need to know is a bunched up fist.

It irks me considerably, this talk of nagging.

Even though I'm off sick, I still get up at 6am in order to get my beloved  husband up for work. He insists that I do so. It takes easily 20 minutes minimum to bully him into getting up, and often involves the insertion of a cold, wet sponge under the duvet and much sprinting. Then he goes to sleep in the bath. I suffer growling and verbal abuse for my efforts, yet when he's late for work, it's still my fault, apparently, for not being sufficiently insistent.

I deplore nagging, but it's essential to the daily running of the household.

If I didn't tell my son to get ready 20 times a morning, he'd eventually turn up at school late, bedraggled and naked. And just why the hell should somebody who needs glasses to be able to see properly, need to be instructed, loudly, dozens of times, to get their perishing glasses on? Answer that if you can! Go on - I defy you to!

And if you need physiotherapy - go and get physio-bloody-therapy!!!

Now sort yourselves out!

:D

Hope you make a swift recovery Dubs.

Errr..wtf

Please don't take this the wrong way Gilly, but don't you see whats wrong there?

You have created that situation by pandering to your hubby's whims to the point where he's like a small child with his mum cajoling him to get up for school and make sure he scrubs behind his ears!

Let him be late for work and take the consequences for his own laziness like a man ffs.. ;)

You don't understand the extent of the dilemma.

He worked on a contract for 6 years in Norway when we'd only just got married, coming home at weekends.

One morning, whilst waiting that few moments for the shower water to run warm, he lay on the wet-room floor, and woke up 3 hours later. And that's what he does if there's nobody there to put the boot in.

Perhaps I should mention that he works 70 - 100 hrs on a typical week, so it's not laziness.

No, I wasn't there - hence the extra 3 hours sleep. :D

One morning, he got on the bus (in Norway) to go to work, and met his mate getting on there all bleary-eyed, and still, unbeknown to him, carrying the bin-bag that he'd meant to deposit in the bin on his way out. It was obvious what it was, because it had baked beans & used tea-bags dribbling down the outside of it.
