He does work too hard, but he's not obliged to put that many hours in - it's his choice (probably to avoid me & the kids). Like I said though, it's what he enjoys doing, and he's a perfectionist. Mad if you ask me. I often suspect him of slying about, cheating on me, but whenever I call his work number to check up on him, he picks it up as soon as it rings. :)

...He's just got home now, and he won't go to bed for hours yet, because if he does, it's just work & sleep with nothing in between. Hence, I'll be nagging him again at 6am, and plucking chest-hairs to rouse him.

Off to bother him for a bit.

Good night.

When I came out of plaster earlier this year, I was of course offered a course of physiotherapy to help me get fit.
Being a daft bloke I shunned it, deciding that I'd spend 2 weeks riding my bike a lot and then get back to work.
Every woman in my life told me this was a stupid idea and that I'd regret it.
It took a bit longer than I thought to be able to get on my bike but basically I followed my plan.
In the last couple of months I've been getting more and more pain and decreased mobility.
This week I decided enough was enough so I went to the doctor.

The doctor gave me a mild telling off for refusing the physio and going back to work too early. I now have to start physio to try and heal the ligament and tendon damage that never properly healed and has in fact been compounded by my blokish idiocy. :emb:

G'day Dubmeup.

Well of course you bloody listen ... doesn't mean that you will do what they say though. ;) :psketti:

Anyway, I sent you a PM. I might be able to help you with some advice if you are interested.

Miss Gilly,

I rejoice in the day when your wifely and motherly 'core' responsibilities are ended.

As a 'proper lady', mine started as a young girl. I've been a wife and a nurse to my husband, my in laws, neighbors, friends, their children, family elders, babies, injured, ill, and who knows who while working for a living to contribute funds to my own household.

Still, I am to perform 'my duties' to my elderly parents. Pity is, they foisted responsibilities on me a long time ago so they didn't have to perform them and I'm tired of it all now that I'm on the back side of 40, and those 'valuable lessons' are worn upon me now at this age.

And when did those boomers take responsibility for their elders and households? Not to date.

They were too busy being the new generation.

P.S. I don't change diapers anymore, I don;t feed them a bottle, I don't shave any more legs, I don't spoon any more elders (they just spit it out anyway), I don't take out other people's rubbish, clean their houses, clean their pet odors, collect their mail, turn them over, change their sheets, hand them the phone, dial the phone, clean up their broken bits after a fit.....

I'm done!

I'm a bit late to this particular party but I'll just say that why men don't listen is one of life's great, unexplained mysteries (along with why women can't reverse-park cars...). It is a profound question that will not be answered in our lifetimes!

Anyway - do hope you get sorted soon, dubs - it sounds painful!

G'day Quietgirl.

It has to do with women having a wider peripheral vision.

I'm not telling why men don't listen, it's a trade secret. :P :D

It's perfectly possible to have entire conversations with men, which they contribute to with appropriate words and body language, only to have them deny all knowledge of it at a later date, because, in fact, they weren't listening. They were on auto-pilot. If you examine them closely while these talks are taking place, there are tell-tale signs, such as glazed over eyes, and the occasional rivulet of drool dribbling down their chins.
