That might be part of it but seen as 4Chan responded more favourably it is not likely to be the sole reason. I think there are a fee ego trippers here who are put out by the format Iam using.

In any case you figured out who I am so you should know I am role playing.

Its a shame people haven't taken to this thread like the first responders did... It's a great idea whereby one person simply answers questions, and it seems Toby has answered most very well... I think if you have a question then you should simply ask it and wait for the reply. I don't think it should even be discussed... Just take the replied answer and decide for yourself if you think it's valid or not. This would make this whole thread much more intersting, appropriate & fun.... Moderators, why don't you just moderate instead of debate on this site? That was clearly the issue on the other forum... It would also be more professional, otherwise you will soon slip into the same issues DIF did... Behind the scenes should stay behind the scenes and all workers should stay neutral...

I think you are in this instance, Toby. It may well be some people's experience of the place, but for everyone that doesn't like it here, I'd say we have at least five that do and stay with us.

I can't see how that would be happening if we were as exclusive as you seem to be implying. The only thing we won't tolerate here is bigotry and nastiness, and even then, that's after we've all agreed on exactly what we think constitutes said bigotry and nastiness.

It is very much a group effort. I just think some people don't respond very well to that, unfortunately.

Yeah, it is certainly my impression.

All this hyperbole...

I am sure this is a nice place for those who fell out with DI Forum to hang out but it seems a little cliquey and a few of the mods and older members seem a little cantankerous.

It was what they call a rhetorical question.

But hey if conspiracies arent your bag, and you feel you speak for this forum then fair enough.

I will say though that I did this on 4Chan and had a far better quality of questions, a greater number of them and genuinley interesting conversations and even more surprisingly no sarcasitic or stupid questions.

So just you think about that

I really am sorry to read that, toby.

I think the bulk of us are over comparing this place to the DIF, tbh. Those sections that still exist are there because we as a group decided to keep them for newer members to air the grievances about the place for the most part.

I completely disagree with your view that this place is 'cliquey'. I certainly wouldn't come back here if it were.

And as for some of the mods being 'cantankerous'...well, maybe, in some people's opinion. However, the fact that I can call psketti a scabby bitch (and I frequently do) is testament I think, to the fact that this place is nothing like the DIF.

Perhaps either you or Master should start a thread to address the issue of mod 'neutrality' if you think it is an issue? Also unlike other forums, we like that kind of thing here.

G'day Toby-c-boon..

Interesting response that you have made to Boots here.

toby-c-boon wrote:
Boots wrote:
Isn't time just a man made construct? As i understand it time can loop back on it's self hence there really isn't a concept of time as we know it, on that bases there is no end and answers are obtained on the journey not the end.

Time is a man made construct is it? Can you name the man who made it?

This part is a straw man argument. Simply because someone could not name the individual "who made it" does not mean that it isn't man made. For instance, could you name the individual that came up with the English language ?

If you can't, does that mean that the English language isn't man made ?

toby-c-boon wrote:
You could argue that humans are here to experience and mark time but you are trying to day if humans were not here the linear timeline would dissolve, this is not the case.

This appears to be another straw man argument. From having read Boots' post, he hasn't stated that "the linear timeline would dissolve" as far as I can see.

Also, the "You could argue ..." part is pointless, unless it is you that is making such a claim, for again, Boots did not post any such thing, and therefore, if you are not claiming such, then it is a straw man argument.

toby-c-boon wrote:
Your argument that there is no end because it begins again holds no weight, no matter which way you look at it, the end still comes. There is no way you can answer every question during the "journey", if you can then start a thread like this and prove it. You cant because it is beyond the capability of a human.

Boots actually proposed that there isn't an end as time loops back around on itself, not that "it begins again". There would have to an ending for it to begin again.

You are also attempting to switch the burden of proof. As you are declaring that there is 'time', then the burden of proof would be upon you, the one affirming it. After all, it is a logical fallacy believing that you can disprove a negative. For instance, how could you prove that there are no unicorns ?

This is also known as an argument from ignorance.

Argument from ignorance, also known as argumentum ad ignorantiam or "appeal to ignorance" (where "ignorance" stands for: "lack of evidence to the contrary"), is a fallacy in informal logic. It asserts that a proposition is true because it has not yet been proven false, it is "generally accepted" (or vice versa). This represents a type of false dichotomy in that it excludes a third option, which is that there is insufficient investigation and therefore insufficient information to prove the proposition satisfactorily to be either true or false. Nor does it allow the admission that the choices may in fact not be two (true or false), but may be as many as four, (1) true, (2) false, (3) unknown between true or false, and (4) being unknowable (among the first three).[1] In debates, appeals to ignorance are sometimes used to shift the burden of proof.

Curious how you left out the definition of "straw man argument" seen as I have not used one. In the end you will know everything, that was the answer to the poster's first question. Said poster then wanted to argue that there is no such thing as "the end" and you want to accuse me of moving goal posts?

Without the end there can be no beginning and without the beginning there will be no end. How can you have difficulty with that from a human perspective.

Is the poster trying to say that they see the fractal nature of the God's dream as a going concearn?

If not then their argument is of no practical value.

I appreciate your sincerity but I am just calling what I see. This thread could have gone a number of ways but to my dissapointment it has failed. Not that I am blaming anyone. I feel that as two new members have picked up on the cliquey nature of this forum that I can hold that opinion as viable and somewhat fair. Horses for courses eh?

It's no issue in considering there are many cantancarous and stubborn people in this world... More so on web forums...
In a nutshell, it seems less friendly and knowledgable and more argumentative than productive, again, I expect that from anyone sat on a computer willing to discuss topics. That is the problem with these forums world over and hence why I think moderators should have no Input other than to do their jobs... If you work for someone, disruptI've behaviour would not be tolerated in most places of work... Again, keeping in terms of been professional and not personal.

I'll reiterate, this thread is a really good idea... and seemed enjoyable at the start... If you dont wish to ask questions or contemplate the answers then just don't bother... Right or wrong... Still fun and entertaining until the negative posts start rushing out and it seems there are a few who love to do this.... That's not positive, negative behaviour and projection won't lead to anythIng good so it's pointless arguing a point from a single minded opinion.

Just ask some questions and see what comes back... This should be fun, not vindictive surely... If your not willing tO just have some fun then your just as bad as an immature spoilt kid who ends up ruining the game.

It seems people must be enjoying this thread considering how many people have looked at it and replied in such a short period of time.
Let's just try and get it going in the manner of questions been answered by yourself and dismiss all the irrelevant nonsense.

Question for you is:

Do you know anyone who has seen a UFO that was unlike any of the stereotypical ones currently talked about?

My uncle was lying on his roof years ago, and he saw a metallic diamond shaped craft pop out from behind a cloud, hover kind of thing for a bit, then it went back behind the cloud and that was the last he saw of it.

Not sure if a diamond is stereotypical.
