Truman Pass The Buck

What a good attitude Dwight D. Eisenhower had regarding government and officialdom.

I think the buck should stop with people who have agreed to take on jobs that affect people and society such as mp's,top policemen etc.

If an area is consistently bombarded with class a drugs such as crack, heroin and methamphetamine then the buck should stop with the chief policeman of that area for being either a lazy person just willing to take the salary or being a crook and taking bribes.

Also if these drug peddlers live in social housing and are not evicted the people who are responsible for managing that group of houses should have the buck shot :D i mean buck stop on them for not giving a feck or for taking backhanders.

I often wonder about the drug issue, HS. I live in social housing and neighbours have been raided on several occasions, yet always return eventually.

I'm very much of the thinking that those whose responsibility you might think it is to enforce tenancy rules etc, really rather lose interest when the tenant is receiving housing benefit, for example.

The only time I've really seen my landlord spring into action for example, is when I am £10.00 in arrears with my rent payments, at which point, I receive a notice to evict.

Otherwise, unless someone else complains about it, you can pretty much do as you please, here.

I agree, it is entirely an issue of management. That is not to say that every facet of a tenant's life needs to managed or interfered with at all. But, a tenancy agreement is an agreement, whether private or social, a fact that many social landlords aren't really concerned with until you stop paying your rent. Unfortunately.

Which leads on to anti-social behaviour and very often even 'ghettos' for want of a better word. I used to complain about such things but was promptly advised to consider renting privately if I really didn't like it.

Sounds like i am in a similar situation to you Ab Origine.

I am pretty much convinced that certain people working for example housing associations are paid to house drug dealers.

Perhaps karma will catch up with these crooked housing people?

Who knows?

I'm sure it has happened at some point, somewhere.

I think for the most part though, it is the way the system is set up, currently. As long as you are claiming what you are entitled to, only to give it straight back to them, they're simply not that interested, in my experience.

WUB started a good thread re job centre 'contact centres' recently, and I think this may be a similar issue. There really aren't the flags and checks in place re anti-social behaviour that there appear to be for things like rent arrears. It has always bemused me a bit.

The drug distributors most likely,Law abiding people are getting sick of being screwed by the crooks at the top of the pyramid and dodging the ones at the bottom who are armed by the military industrial complex. (for example a few miles from where i live)

Guns and hand grenades.
