Old folks get taken advantage of for money, out of fear from associates, their idiot kids, and some even have to raise their own children's kids because of one reason or the other. At age 30 your ripe to be taken advantage of imo

Rick,

I have not read the responses to your OP, but I will say this: You're spot on about being used, BUT!! I'm glad you have learned, like I, that we are the ones who have ENABLED the users and WILL NOT PERMIT this again. :)

Shame on the advantage takers and shame on us for recognizing it sooner, but now we do. :)

I will now read the responses.....hope I didn't blow it.

I don't stand for any nonsense, rick.

It also came to me like a bit of a revelation and also made me realise just how much our attitudes and little foibles are shaped by our upbringing.

As I've said before, I'm often out here on my own because of it, but sometimes I'd rather that than be surrounded by vampires.

That's not to say I don't help where I see someone genuinely struggling. It's rare to come across someone who is actually genuinely in need of assistance these days. A lot of it is about ego and pandering for the most part, but sometimes synchronicity does step in and puts you in exactly the right place at the right time.

I've also had more than one experience of being utterly humbled by the kindness and compassion of others...sometimes complete strangers. Long as you don't let your self-sufficiency get in the way of seeing that true gift, you'll be fine.

We, in America, have a saying: The hell you're out there on your own! :)

I hate to hurt anyone's feelings and I can be a very soft touch, but I have learned (the hard way!) that life is just too short to gather a***holes to one's bosom! I do not wish them ill; I just give them a wide berth!

I do always try to be honest but being a typical Libra I also try and be tactful - this has at times led me into tying myself up in knots, lol, and I've learned that sometimes you've just gotta say it how it is! Recently, my extremely kind-hearted OH and I have been pestered by a neighbour (a drug user, sadly) for loans of money/borrowing our phone/ladder/drill/lifts etc- the list was endless and it just went on and on until eventually my hubby told her to get lost in no uncertain terms! She hasn't bothered us since! I was so proud of him! :D

Well seeing as my nickname from some others is 'motormouth' I would say that I really don't have any trouble at all being honest and blunt.

Just curious about.your avatar picture, how would they do that on lips,is that possible,at first view I thought it was a type of glitter, but then I thought that may not be a good idea having a glitter mix so close to your mouth.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for posting, and that avatar is pretty, I just wondered if it was something that was possible to do a on person in everyday life, and what would be used to create that effect on lips.

Rick is there a connection between this thread and the one you made about energy vampires?

Or am I just over analyzing?

Hello Rick and thanks for the welcome.
I've never done the glitter lip thing although I am tempted as it does look great.

LOL.
I have had a few bouts with women who I thought were possessed by the devil, and situations with individuals who took advantage of my kindness and I was used, and yes we learn from this, and can relate experiences from them.
So in a way they are related, but not because of any incident or situation at the moment, just from reflecting back on some wild things I have went through in the past.

So yes they are related in that sense and you're correct in your assumption.
