I need to write this as simply as I can so you can understand what I'm trying to ask and what I have wondered about.
The subject I'm asking about is performance enhancing drugs,
and why they are considered so wrong, and why the officials or tptb in any particular sport are so against them

OK here is my thought, which I wonder about.
The individual that participates in a sport has abilities, natural and trained, and has reached their own personal level of achievement, isn't anything that they would take or use still really be their own abilities within their own body,it's not like they have made themselves robots or super beings it is still them performing as a individual, just with possibly a more enhanced capability which is within their body or mind to be able to do.
So why are any drugs classified as performance enhancing, considered with such a taboo and can get them disqualified or completely taken out of their sport of choice.

Isn't it still just them performing, just with things they have used to make them better as individual participants?

because its not something from their own body, its added to them. your body has limits that you are trained to push, and grow against. if you take drugs those limits are passed without the efforts.
plus you say well its ok to take drugs to enhance your sport. for the same reason why not just cheat to be better? its just a humans natural stealth and brain that allows them to do it.
can you imagine boxing with pcp? lol
you just have to try and use your natural abilities, all from within yourself. i imagine that victory with performance drugs isnt as sweet as the victory of nature.

I don't quite understand it from a logical stance myself, Rick. Sports are just games, and have no bearing on the development or continuity of our species. It seems ridiculous that sports players would have to testify before court/supreme court as to whether they used those drugs. Yes they're illegal in some cases, but does it need to make headlines? Is it really that important? Millions of people repeatedly go through prison systems on drug addiction-related charges, with no rehabilitation options. Why not make that headlines?

Personally I think it's done to put emphasis on arbitrary games, to make them seem more important than they actually are. A lot of people in the west follow their sports teams and players as if they were part of some sort of religious cult. Speak poorly of their team, or openly state that you don't watch, and the reactions are often very similar to someone openly stating they're an atheist or agnostic. Distracted fanatics are easy to herd.

I'm not a big fan of Jordan Maxwell, but he did say something which I happen to agree with. I'm paraphrasing here, so bear with me...

"The business/financial, political, and religious elite show up to sporting events much in the same way a few adults will break off from grown up talk to entertain the kids at a gathering/party. It's to keep the kids occupied while the rest of the adults speak out of earshot of the children."

The way I look at any type of competition it's like life, you are competing for everything, and it's all a game of sorts,if your not looking at the other guy as a fellow competitor in jobs, over a love interest, personal survival, your creature comforts, meaning having a decent place to live and your basic needs being met,you get so to speak eaten by the big dogs and left out, or have to take scraps.

Well this ^^^ is what it's meant to be about - Human prowess, pushed beyond its limits for War, Strategy, Hunting, etc. :)

In fact, there are few "athletes" today NOT using performance enhancing drugs. Anyone really believing the blurb and going up against the majority of athletes is a naive ninny. Today's athletes know everything about drug use - including how long it takes to clear the system so it won't show in any tests.

*As an aside - I was once at a big "athletic trial" with all these Mighty Runners taking one another on. And I might have been impressed too... if someone's Jack Russell hadn't sliiped its collar and showed them all up. :D *

way i see it is that it is cheating.

10 people start a course to learn how to make a bookcase - all 10 have the same training and the same abilities - all ten then have to make the shelves to a certain standard from tree to living room in the shortest possible time - only one person has powertools.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

look at the tom simspon case ,
guy died taking part in tdf he was asking to go.on even as.he died ,
he took speed
storys on youtube and film.of his collapse at roadside .

peeformance enhancing drugs are dangerous they lead to newer better drugs and sport becomes whos got the best dealer /gear
and people die or suffer side effects its not good .

It is cheating, thoreau.

But the blunt fact is that body-building/performance enhancing drugs are now so prolifically used that someone would have to be a Gonk to think all they have to do is get fit and train to stand a chance.

Yes I understand it's considered cheating, but if is something that made this person do what his or her body has the potential to do why is it not allowed,is it a real true concern for the health of a individual as they claim, is one of their reasons for banning them or something else.
Do you really think they care that much about the health of a athlete,it would seem to me if the authorities or system is as sinister or corrupt as people think they would want the individual athletic performer to be as superior as possible,it just makes me wonder why the incredible emphasis on this subject that is generated about it.

Putting aside the laws of competing clean, or the fact it's called cheating, isn't it a realization that their body had the potential to perform at the increased level the drug induced, and then the performance enhancing drug just brought it out in them, and helped them increase performance through this use of whatever drug they used.

Not too sure why its so wrong to use sport enhancing drugs :umm: some drugs are legal and really enhance your level drugs like creatine and caffine etc.

Even with these added its just them performing the question is where to draw the line.

Some people may say its cheating But what is cheating in sport ? how many of us really use our natural ability without using protein powders, creatine, etc.

our bodies have the potential to do many things with the help of certain drugs - i like to think that those involved in running the games who outlaw certain drugs do so in order to maintain to as large a degree as possible a fair playing field and also to keep the 'human' element of the games as 'human' as possible.

without such rules in place it becomes less about the athlete and their trainers and more about drug v drug. which in this particular case is not what the public is supposed to care about - but who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

Well, once (long ago now, I would think) when sport was a show of what an individual could do on the battlefield or out hunting, I'd say Honour was a bigger part of matters.

But not really since BIG MONEY has come into things.

Here's a example in my opinion and a help to explain my thinking on this.

Let's use Viagra as a example in this discussion,it is glorified and it is a performance enhancing drug, but yet it is glorified, and praised and popular, and even used in the expression,be all you really are or can be with your partner.

It is even advertised on a NASCAR in big bold lettering.

I agree with the concept of a equal playing field to the extreme,as to my personal opinion about sports,I completely agree it should be a individuals personal achievement in the sport by his or her natural abilities,I'm just baffled as to why or the reasons for such a outrage over the performance drugs, which covers them all in this discussion or anything else that increases a persons ability

Whatever anyone does with their own body is their business not mine.
Its as simple as that.

As for the olympics and drugs again thats up to the olympic commitee and the people choosing to participate and abide by their rules.

The same thought basically applies to all sorts of stuff, if you agree to be an employee then you agree to be robbed of tax before you even get to see the money, thats your problem not mine ;)
Everything in life boils down to choices, its like a butterfly effect I suppose, if a big group chooses to do the same thing then it becomes a 'paradigm' so to speak.
The paradigm itself can be 'good' 'bad' whatever depending on perspective which is again based upon education/experience/wisdom gained.

The paradigm becomes an infestation and scourge on humanity when people are left with little/no choice because of it.
You can at least tolerate it if you have a realistic choice for an alternative. What do you do though when you have no choice but to participate in madness?

Additionally many athletes etc can use drugs etc to build their bodies before the events as long as nothing is in their system during drug testing so it is all kind of impossible to create a level playing field if that is the desired effect.
