I don't know enough to say how accurate they can be but it seems to me that anything that every ancient and wise culture around the world believed in must have some validity.

I did a bit of research into the 13th astrological star sign, Ophiuchus, the above is part of the thread from here ... www.infinite-love-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=976

It's interesting that most people wouldn't have a clue about Ophiuchus (13 star sign), yet will swear by astrology. :dunno:

Thanks for all that I AM.
And yes, I find it absolutely hilarious and aggravating when I come across those few who swear they know and believe in astrology and yet have not a clue that there is a 13th one. Got in an argument with some tool once, he swore there is only 12, have ever only been 12 and so on. I pointed out that it can be found in many an ancient culture and it only got wiped out when the Christian Church and Roman's and so on and so forth decided to go with not 1, but 2 (or more) different calendars. Druids, Pagans, Egyptians, Mayans... I was about 2 seconds away from punching this fool just for his stupidity for something he said he knew everything about when he finally picked up his computer and checked :wtcslap: Needless to say he stuttered for a while and had no more to say.

And I've even ended up in an argument over why there is 13 moons a year, not 12, 13...lines up with the zodiac of 13... 13 months each consisting of 28 days. Takes the moon 28 days to make one entire lunar cycle, just so happens to correlate to a woman's menses and this whole leap year bullshit is just thrown in there to help throw people off. Combine that with the natural changes occurring in the Earth (magnetic and otherwise), along with all the processed, poisoned crap we ingest most women are no long in sync with the lunar cycle. Anyway, back to the point...this person while open to the "possibility" of 13 zodiacs, swore there were only 12 moons a year

There is a lot more to the zodiac than what meets the eye...although it's hard to tell anymore just what is aligned anymore after all the fucking around TPTB have done throughout history.

@Dawn... Ophiuchus is not made up. It is present in most ancient cultures that recognized 13 zodiacs before the morons got involved and redid all the calendar systems and fucked everyone up. It's a constellation in the sky that, while not as known in modern culture, still exists. It didn't just *poof* as some would have everyone believe.

In astronomical terms, I don't have any problems with it... in fact all things heavenly quite fascinate me and did all through my childhood. It's when it's then turned into astrology that I don't 'buy it'.

Yes, from reading all the above, I've remembered it's because of the 13th sign that I didn't believe in Westernised astrology.

Irre - Indian (Hindu) is the Vedic astrology I mentioned, and is also 5,000 years old. I'd love to know how similar it is to the Chinese version that you spoke of. If they're pretty much the same, it would give it more credence to me.

No its up there in the sky. Astronomy and astrolatry / astrotheology and all that jazz.

The info on the other side of IAMALLIAM's link is very comprehensive.

One full rotation of precession, so a full zodiac cycle = ~26000 years, which matches the long term count of the mayan calendar.

It always raised the question in me if the Sphinx was build in the age of leo =~11000 BC in linear time.
you are right, the spinx would be 10000-11000 BC

Cancer Black

This is one of the 13 constellations of the Zodiac. Cancer, the Crab, plays a minor role in the Twelve Labors of Hercules. While Hercules was busy fighting the multi-headed monster, Hydra, the goddess Hera, who did not like Hercules, sent the Crab to distract him. Cancer grabbed onto the hero's toe with its claws, but barely breaking the rhythm of his great battle with Hydra, Hercules crushed the crab with his foot. Hera, grateful for the little crustacean's heroic but pitiful effort, gave it a place in the sky.

Anyway, there are lots of examples of what I see as subliminal reference to celestial objects (mythology/astrolatry/astrology) in Hollywood film, i could go on...and on...and on.

G'day StarsChildren.

:D That's a classic. :chuckle: For being such a "tool", I hope you rubbed his nose in it. :D It reminds me of a quote from the Dune series (posted below).

I first posted the information on Ophiuchus on the DI f after having spent over 200 hours looking into it and gathering the information on that thread. It's an interesting topic and one I think that deserves a lot more attention than it gets. After all, for T.H.E.Y. to want to hide it in the manner in which they have, there must be some purpose in doing the hiding. ;)

I watched an interesting documentary (also posted below) about the Coptic cross and how it actually was originally an astronomical tool. There's some great information in it that ties in with a lot of other areas. It's definitely worth watching and I highly recommend it.

As for astrology, do I believe one in 12(or13) people have a similar day every day? No. Do I believe the energy into which you are specifically born (ie. sunlight, moonlight, magnetic fields global and universal)? I think only a fool could dismiss them as having no effect whatsoever!

No. I don't buy into astrology of any nationality, whether 12 or 13, animal. vegetable or mineral.

Funnily enough (long and possibly dreary story coming up - go get a cuppa and a biskwit to help you through), years back I read all the "profiles" for the start signs and saw a lot of my own traits in all of them. I thought then - and still do - that we ALL contain ALL of the traits of ALL the star signs.

But, I had to admit, that the one that got me most was Leo. But I am supposed to be Cancer :conf: (and am so not like Cancer it's laughable).

Anyhooo, a couple of years back we were all talking about the births we'd gone through and it was then that my mum told us that she'd had four girls, all born on the exact Due Date given.... except me. My Due Date had been given as 7th August; but, on the 6th July she slipped down the last two steps of the house she was living in then and gone into labour early - and I was born the next morning, on the 7th July, exactly one month early.

Had I also been born on my Due Date, I would have been Leo Sun, Leo Moon and Leo Rising. :O

(And while we're at it - did you know your Sun sign is the least important part of your supposed chart? That's only when you were born. The Biggy is meant to be The Ascendant/Rising. Jus' sayin' ).

G'day cANTATA.

Great post.

As with numerology, we all do indeed have every trait 'within us' as a choice to re-present.

A friend wanted to get my natal chart done, so I agreed ... Sun in Cancer, Moon in Cancer, Aries Rising. From memory, there were a few of the houses in Cancer as well. I found out from my friend about the Sun sign not being the predominant 'trait giver', which is of course not what is commonly portrayed. This might have something to do with the 'take over' by the Sun worshipers of years gone by. ;)

Anyway, as with numerology, there has been a lot of misrepresentation of astrology, which I believe has been done intentionally. To have someone act in a manner that isn't themselves, one way would be to get them to believe that they are something that they are not. Both astrology and numerology, as commonly portrayed, appear to be set up for exactly this purpose.

not so sure about horoscopes and typical sun/moon sign astrology but I do find natal and synastry charts to be eerily very accurate. I have learned to read them some and I find it interesting. Its all in fun to me although many folks take it very seriously.

Hmm, interesting! I voted "undecided". I have often been told by my fellow Christians that we shouldn't have anything to do with astrology - they see it as a portal into the occult, in much the same way that some people see cannibis use as a portal into the world of heavier drugs. However, they forget that the Bible is full of astrology and number symbology, etc (the Magi who visited Christ after his birth were in fact astrologers!) So I think it is, in the main, harmless. I have had my birth-chart done, and I'm a Libra Sun, with Scorpio Rising and Moon in Aquarius - and yes, I do seem to fit the description! (An eerie side-note - Margaret Thatcher has the same Sun/Ascendant/Moon Sign combo as me. Scary, huh?! :O )

I seem to get on best with other Librans and Pisceans. My OH is Libra, my longest-time BF is Libra, and my other 2 closest friends are Pisces!

Hi quietgirl, have you read about astrolatry and astro-theology...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrolatry
Astrotheology is the study of the astronomical origins of religion; how gods, goddesses, and demons are personifications of astronomical phenomena such as lunar elipses, planetary alignments, and apparent interactions of planetary bodies with stars.

The term astro-theology is used in the context of 18th to 19th century scholarship aiming at the discovery of the original religion, particularly primitive monotheism. Unlike astrolatry, which usually implies polytheism, frowned upon as idolatrous by Christian authors since Eusebius, astrotheology is any "religious system founded upon the observation of the heavens",[1] and in particular, may be monotheistic.

Manly P Hall (1901-1990) taught that each of the three Abrahamic faiths has a planet that governs that religion.

Judaism is Saturn: the symbol of Judaism is a hexagram symbol of Saturn, and the day of worship is on Saturday, day of Saturn.

Christianity is the Sun: the symbol of Christianity is the cross symbol of the Sun, and the day of worship is Sunday, day of the Sun.

Islam is Venus: the symbol of Islam is the star and crescent (the star commonly thought to represent Venus), and the day of worship is on Friday, day of Venus.

Strangely, the above wiki page used to include this extra text but they recently deleted it...

Astrotheology is the study of the astronomical origins of religion; how gods, goddesses, and demons are personifications of astronomical phenomena such as lunar elipses, planetary alignments, and apparent interactions of planetary bodies with stars.

Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, and the ancient Egyptian religions are examples of faiths claimed to be derived from observations of the bodies on the celestial sphere.

Examples of deities said to be created as astrological allegories include YHWH, Ra, Horus, Osiris, Mithras, Zoroaster, Helios, Apollo, Lugh, Quetzalcoatl and Jesus Christ.
