Does our birthday/month determine any of our traits at all?

Or not?

Thoughts?

I'm undecided.

I do have some typical Taurean traits...but we can all have those same traits no matter what month we were born in.

Ive noticed a lot of Hollywood actors are Leo's, seems to be disproportional, though its not as if i have done a scientific study or anything. :D

:dunno:

Part of me thinks its a load of B, another part does see some of the traits that signs are supposed to have, match up.

Hence undecided also.

I've put 'undecided'.

That's not to say I've studied astrology in any great depth, due to flaws in logic I found (which I can't now recall).

BUT, someone advised that the westernised version is deliberate disinformation, to deceive us, and the Vedic version is the real deal.

I also haven't studied the Vedic version, because having bought a book on it when I was in the middle of reading something else, I passed it on for someone else to read, and as usual, they never returned it.

And Paracelsus was an interesting chap (1493 - 1541) whose belief in our literal connection to the stars (which when disturbed caused physical & mental illnesses) and his strange works inspired Franz Anton Mesmer (as in 'mesmerised' 1734 - 1815) to delve about in this stuff, leading to early progress within the field of hypnotism.

...Have I rambled?

Any way, my decision is, I don't know.

What about chinese astrology? That's supposedly been around for over 5,000 years. That's 3,000 years before Christ.

Is chinese astrology just for the chinese? It can't be...

I voted yes my birthday has some weird connection with some dramatic events in my fathers life, that were to many to be just a coincidence in my opinion.

Plus the mathematical distances of our moon and the planets are to well placed to just be a random occurrence, for us as humans and life on earth to just evolve as we have.

And if you need to see something really strange check our moon and the multiples of the number four that control it.

www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/meaning-of-numbers-in-bible/4.html

There are four phases in the Moon’s cycle: the new Moon of darkness and re-birth; the waxing Moon of growth; the full Moon of completion; the waning Moon of disintegration and death.

Four symbolizes completion and wholeness. Consider the four directions – east, south, west, north; four seasons – spring, summer, fall, winter; the four elements – air, fire, water, earth; the four psychological functions – thinking, intuiting, feeling, sensing.

Let’s look at the four elements and psychological functions. “The essential function of sensation is to establish that something exists, thinking tells us what it means, feeling what its value is, and intuition surmises whence it comes and whither it goes.” (C.G. Jung, CW6)

Not sure...probably has something to do with it all. And it depends on what set of signs you're going on, the 13 or the 12.

Read some stuff that fits perfectly for me... read other stuff that couldn't be farther from the truth. So it depends on where you are looking to.

We all know that the moon effects the tides in the ocean...as it also effects our bodies and cycles. So why wouldn't star signs, zodiac, planetary alignment when we were born effect it to?

the alignment of the stars and the planets follow the same wave vibrations as everything else in the universe so we can use them to map the future, our given personalities, etc.

though honestly we're still not so great at mapping the future.

Have you explored other kinds of astrology kit? Chinese for instance? Mayan? If so, how accurate were they?

I think there's Indian astrology as well.

chinese... eh, fairly close. a few major discrepancies... not nearly as close as my star sign. don't know anything about mayan and indian.

i believe they're all on to something but we need a new system combining the best of all of them... western astrology being the closest we have so far, though. not perfect but the best we have so far.

No for me as well. It's purely amusement in my opinion.

If it where true it would mean that human beings could be categorized into tweleve distinguishable groups and that just isn't the way it is from where I'm sitting :coffee:

The Zodiac

The 12 “star signs” the astrologers use are the constellations that fall on the ecliptic, otherwise referred to as the zodiac. The ecliptic is merely the path the sun seems to follow as the earth revolves around it. So, if on a certain date you looked at the sun, the current “star sign” would be the constellation directly behind the Sun.

Star Sign (Constellation) ............. Date
Sagittarius........................Nov 22 Dec 21
Capricornus.......................Dec 22 Jan 19
Aquarius...........................Jan 20 Feb 18
Pisces.............................Feb 19 Mar 20
Aries...............................Mar 21 Apr 19
Taurus.............................Apr 20 May 20
Gemini.............................May 21 Jun 21
Cancer..............................Jun 22 Jul 22
Leo..................................Jul 23 Aug 22
Virgo................................Aug 23 Sep 22
Libra................................Sep 23 Oct 22
Scorpius............................Oct 23 Nov 21

The zodiac is “A belt on the celestial sphere, about 8° either side of the ecliptic, which forms the background for the motions of the Sun, Moon, and planets.” The ecliptic passes through more than 12 constellations, it passes through 13, the thirteenth being Ophiuchus. Why do the astrologers ignore poor old Ophiuchus? Probably because it is not a particularly bright constellation. But that does not change the fact that the ecliptic passes through 13 constellations, not 12.

Star Sign (Constellation) .............. Date
Sagittarius.........................Dec 18 Jan 18
Capricornus........................Jan 19 Feb 15
Aquarius...........................Feb 16 Mar 11
Pisces..............................Mar 12 Apr 18
Aries................................Apr 19 May 13
Taurus..............................May 14 Jun 19
Gemini...............................Jun 20 Jul 20
Cancer...............................Jul 21 Aug 09
Leo..................................Aug 10 Sep 15
Virgo................................Sep 16 Oct 30
Libra................................Oct 31 Nov 22
Scorpius............................Nov 23 Nov 29
Ophiuchus..........................Nov 30 Dec 17

G'day StarsChildren.

I did a bit of research into the 13th astrological star sign, Ophiuchus, the above is part of the thread from here ... www.infinite-love-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=976

It's interesting that most people wouldn't have a clue about Ophiuchus (13 star sign), yet will swear by astrology. :dunno:

G'day Psketti.

Even calculating into the equation the Sun sign, Moon sign and Rising sign, as well as the 12 Houses position on the Birth Chart, it's still a HUGE stretch to categorise EVERYONE into such groups. After all, anyone born at the same time as someone else would apparently have the same personality / characteristics, etc.

Personally, I think many people 'act out' their star sign because they associate themselves AS that star sign, and therefore must BE that way. Self programming. ;)
