There was an episode playing one night in the background that I glanced at from time to time. You're 100% right labelling it propoganda as that's all it is. It's just another 'show' to slowly initiate us into the way the state wants us to think and feel.

I hear it was popular but did it really win awards mikey?

I've been watching this on ShowTime since it premiered.

Honestly I don't see it as propaganda....it's more of a political thriller. Like a Tom Clancy type show.

The CIA doesn't look heroic at all as they blunder so many things that lead to various shitstorms.

Not to mention the main CIA chick is a pill popping maniac.

Yesterday's commercial for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia taught me that Homeland would be more interesting if the main actors were to use popular characters they played in previous roles.

Claire Dane's character would be Temple Grandin.
Mandy Pantinkin's character would be Inigo Montoya.
Damian Lewis could be played by Danny Devito.

Sunny in Philly Starring Andrew Dice Clay, Haley Joel Osment

Or just make it anime like Sunny in Philadelphia did here.

Even for somebody as open minded as a member of SZ, it is still often a given for many within the USA that while imperfect, while corrupt, or incompetent occasinally, the CIA are, after all, on the side of the "good guys" and that most of the "civilised world" deep down knows that to be the case. This is often confused (and conflated by the media) with anti-Americanism.

It might still be hard for many Americans to see their flag in quite the way many non-Americans do and I would say almost impossible for them to see it in quite the way Iraqis and Afghanis do.

This is not quite the same of our own patriots: our own manifestation of patriotism is rather different. As a Scot (like my mum) you might love your country for its landscape, music, heros, poetry, culture etc but you might say "Greatest country in the World" and mean it for you.

But you wouldn't expect people from other countries to believe it. You would expect them to consider their own country to be the greatest for themselves,
