I find myself in a position whereby I am writting a seperate thread about the latest announcement from the Admin team. A position I found myself in over at the old Sanctum.
When I am done saying what I have to say...do what you will..bin it (send it to vent room), trash it (pull it to bits) but what I do ask you to do, is consider what I have to say in your OWN INDIVIDUAL hearts, as what I have to say comes from there for me.
Some of you here will have been on this very same journey, albeit with your own view points, others of you here will have no idea about what I am talking about.
To understand and recognise why we find ourselves at this juncture today, we have to remember the journey, and how the first footstep was taken. I have to take responsibility for the fact that it was my actions that resulted in the original Sanctum being born in the first place.
Many moons ago I was a member of the DIF. I thoroughly enjoyed my time over there and was selective about what I participated in, as this is the internet at the end of the day, so just like my remote control I chose what I decided to view and participate in. It was also a place where people can put forward ideas. One of my feelings/ideas, because that's the sort of person I am, was that there is more to life than just sitting at the old lappy taking part in forum discussions. By getting off ones computer and doing albeit the smallest of thing towards changing the things we all have individual gripes about the world we live in, in my view meant, that one could come back and contribute something worthwhile to ongoing discussions.
So, as many of you know, I set about arranging meet ups, with the view that each and everyone that came could go back home with ideas and a feeling of COMMUNITY that we could make even the smallest difference. From small acorns, mighty oaks do grow. That people who came would have the confidence to go back to their locale and at least try and arrange meet ups there. Good grief, we even had members coming to Warrington from as far afield as Glasgow and the south coast! The whole thing started to snowball, meetings were being considered all over the UK, and even a few in the US and Australia! Wehey! A massive positive step forward in my view as ultimately it would have given the Icke forum a massive raising of the bar over other forums, and ultimately doing what Icke himself advocated...be the change you want to see.
Well, for reasons better known to himself/themselves....they didn't like it and it all ended up in Angelgate. DG had the foresight to realise what would happen next and very, very quickly (less than 24 hours) set up Sanctum as at least a stepping stone for all the people he and I could see getting the banhammer over there. I remained there, albeit not posting as a sort of 'smoking gun' if you will while he and I gave as many people as possible the heads up about the new forum. I will state right here and now, that I did not agree with some of the ideas DG had for the groundrules of Sanctum, but hey, it was his 'baby' and fundamentally I had no right to interfere with this, but I had every right to voice my concerns.
As some of you here know, my concerns were quickly manifested, whether you agree with me or not is OK, but that episode resulted in me, and several other people who as individuals, not in support of me, quitting Sanctum.
Now we find ourselves in a rather peculiar situation, and here's the rub....I originally maintained that an open forum policy, clean slate, was not going to work, no way, no how.....this is the internet. DG in fairness was adamant that he was going down the clean slate route. Also that the forum would be community led......as much as I hoped and wished that his dream would succeed...I just couldn't see it. So now, between DG and myself, we find he has listened to what would be the voice of the majority (good grief! Was I the voice the majority in the first place?) and started TZ. I now find myself fighting for the ideals he originally set up in Sanctum!!!
So here we are, stuck in the middle...the original Sanctum with its community led ideals behind us, and Truth Zone with no community led decisions (sorry, I don't mean to be antagonistic, just don't know a better way of putting it) in front of us. Intrinsically, Sanctum Zone being the fork in the road and thus ultimately, as it will, sort of force people to decide which path they want to take. I know its a matter of choice, and admin are coming from this standpoint, but ultimately, human nature being what it is, will cause derision and finally division. Together we stand, divided we fall.
I only have one thing to say about admins decision about starting TZ....if so many people privately aired their views about wanting a non community led forum, and they were indeed in the majority, then admin should have just said "we have had X ammount of feedback, which is above 50% of members here and in which case we are making SZ a typical admin run forum. We put our hands up that the original idea of how this forum should be run has failed"
OR "we have had X ammount of people saying that they want SZ to be more traditionally run, and therefore as we STILL believe in the original ethos of SZ we have suggested and hope that these members find forums which best suit their needs". Either way...admin would have been coming from their TRUTH and original principals in my innocent belief.
So to come full circle, this is the internet, we don't
know each other when all is said and done, although a few of us have met up 'out there'. There in lies the problem and the crux of.... do we v. don't we have a community led forum? So, do we just reduce this forum down to members who have set up groups in their own locale worldwide, who have a sense, understanding and belief in COMMUNITY and are actually getting off their computers and coming back here and reporting on progress and in turn have an honest to goodness viewpoint via experience of things that are happening out there in the big bad world and NOT solely what they find reported on MSM or other websites? I like to think of it as taking on the Big Boyz at their own game only to shaft them when their back are turned and the people ave quietly gone about changing the world we live in without them noticing.
Call me idealistic, call me a nutter, call me a troublemaker, call me a pacifist.....at the end of the day...they are just words on a computer screen, at least I am walking my talk, and get off here from time to time to 'shit stir' the system and try to make the future better for my kids and my grandchildren, and anybody else they pass the 'message' on to. At least my kids already know I will go to my grave being able to say... "At least I made small differences, here's the reins"... which they will gladly accept, and wear their Rainbow Warrior badges with pride.
I'm off to do something for myself for a change. I am going to knit myself a sweater, mit and hats, because I have a feeling where I am going is going to be a tad on the cold side....
Wishing you all sunny
