He was awoken at 3am with somone tapping his shoulder.

He awoke to see a man shitting on the couch with him ......who turned his head and gave him a big sneery smile.

the rent charged on the flat was well below market rates due to the 'evil ghost'

A classic scary tale but no ghost.....

One night a woman went out for drinks with her girlfriends. She left the bar fairly late at night, got in her car and onto the deserted highway. After a few minutes she noticed a lone pair of headlights in her rear-view mirror, approaching at a pace just slightly quicker than hers. As the car pulled up behind her she glanced and saw the turn signal on — the car was going to pass — when suddenly it swerved back behind her, pulled up dangerously close to her tailgate and the brights flashed.

Now she was getting nervous. The lights dimmed for a moment and then the brights came back on and the car behind her surged forward. The frightened woman struggled to keep her eyes on the road and fought the urge to look at the car behind her. Finally, her exit approached but the car continued to follow, flashing the brights periodically.

Through every stoplight and turn, it followed her until she pulled into her driveway. She figured her only hope was to make a mad dash into the house and call the police. As she flew from the car, so did the driver of the car behind her — and he screamed, "Lock the door and call the police! Call 911!"

When the police arrived the horrible truth was finally revealed to the woman. The man in the car had been trying to save her. As he pulled up behind her and his headlights illuminated her car, he saw the silhouette of a man with a butcher knife rising up from the back seat to stab her, so he flashed his brights and the figure crouched back down.

The moral of the story: Always check the back seat!

And a hoax quiz :D

When I was 20 I was living in a house that was HAUNTED. It was a shabby, old Victorian, that must have been grand in its day. Now, it was split up into 3 apartments. Strange and scary stuff happened there, stuff that I could not talk about much because it was not easy to believe.
***
At work, the switchboard operator disliked the girl her son was seeing and was trying to break them up. She asked me if I would go out to dinner with him and I said okay.

I can't even remember the dinner.

We got back to my place and had some wine and were talking.

There was a long, narrow hallway that led to the kitchen and bath. As we were talking a low, warbly sound came from the kitchen. Woooooooo, WOOOOOOO, WOOoooooOOOOooooh. This, I had never heard before. It was a classic ghost sound.

The sound then moved to outside the house by the window and then at the front of the house. My new friend's face turned white and he was turning in every direction trying to figure out what was going on. I started giggling because I was so happy to have a witness, but he didn't think it was funny.

I think he wanted to leave but he was afraid too, because the sound was coming from random directions and he felt trapped.

The hours went by quick enough for me, but I bet it was a long night for him. It wasn't until the sun came out that he felt brave enough to walk down the hallway to the bathroom. From the hallway he yelled out and there we saw a dead rat. I found this to be a little embarrassing, like I wasn't a good housekeeper, and I quickly grabbed a rag to pick it up and throw it away but it was stuck.

Tied around the hind leg of the rat was a thread and the thread was stuck in the wall and was coming from where the wall meets the floor. To this day, I am puzzled by this because it sure did seem like the ghost tied it and stuck it there.

He went to the bathroom and left (he lived with his mom). It was a work day and I felt a little awkward because we did have sex and I didn't want his mom to know. When I saw her, I put on my best innocent face, shrugged, and tried to let her know that I had done my best. She was nervous and looked a little shocked and I had no idea if it was because her son had told her about the ghost, or if it was because he got home after sunrise.

I lived there for 3 years and I wasn't really afraid. Probably too stupid to know better. It was only until after I had moved out that I would have recurring nightmares where I was told that I had to go back and spend ONE MORE night there. I would always wake up, practically screaming, with my heart pounding out of my chest.

The rent was really cheap at that house and it was walking distance to the beach.
