Also, it's been nearly eighty years since the Second World War ended. You would struggle to name a war that Britain has been involved in since which I agreed with, and I can name many that any right thinking person would disagree with. I'm sorry if some largely innocent people are suffering because family members have been killed or injured or whatever, but perhaps they shouldn't have gone out there in the first place.

Regardless of this issue, using the imagery of the World Wars, and the cause of the Second World War, to justify people contributing to this fund is wholly inappropriate and borderline propaganda.

its simple, the british legion support, help and fund raise for vets, some who will only get help from them as opposed to the government that sent them to get maimed in unjust wars, the cynical hijacking and political agenda attached to it is separate to that.

Why wear a symbol at all?
if you believe in what the British Legion is doing then support them, but wearing the poppy is symbolic and to most people just means support our troops (and by association the wars they fight)

Personally I could never wear one as to me it's a symbol of pointless bloodshed to benefit a handful of psychopaths.

If you feel strongly about ex-servicemen and women's financial circumstances just give them money. It doesn't even have to be on or near to Remembrance Sunday.I don't have any affection for the Union flag in the first place. Nor should anyone else, with the possible exception of the royal family.

Well I've only just noticed the thread title says Poopy. And I've noticed some of us are following suit.

I just wanna be clear. Raising funds for the BL is cool. Pinning poop to my lapel is not.

This is just my opinion but there should be much more informtion for us and children in respect of WW1 coz history books take ovr and it's all all hitler and jews

I have given money and worn poppies in the past but it does feel like you are justifying the for ever greedy arms industry and the families that benefit from this world trade such as the royals.

Poppies are associated with WWI (hence the end of Blackadder), but I don't think the Royal British Legion can legitimately be claiming to be collecting money for people affected by the death of relatives in the First World War. I suppose they can just about claim to still be supporting families affected by the Second World War. I agree with virtually none of Britain's foreign policy since then, so I'm sorry for the families of those that are affected, who have done nothing wrong, but I can think of worthier causes.
