As we approaching remembrance day I'm curious as to whether anyone else wears a poppy?

Or thinks about the dead on that day?

I know, or have been 'told' by conspiracy sites, that day (11/11) is steeped in supernatural intent and if you acknowledge it you are somehow complicit in harbouring in bad stuff

I don't agree with war, and think most modern soliders are being taken advantage off

However I do acknowledge remembrance day .......both my grand-dads lost there lives in ww2

I've always given money to the British Legion but I don't wear a red poppy.

The BL do fantastic work both for injured soldiers and for the families of soldiers who have been killed and I don't have any problem supporting the help they give.

I don't wear the red poppy because over the last decade or so it has become a symbol of support for the corporate wars this country is involved in. Wearing a poppy has become a politicised support symbol and I want no part of that.

I will be wearing a white poppy again this year. If I have to wear a symbol I'd rather it be one of peace.

I know that Animal Aid raise funds for animals injured during conflicts but I don't know whether they tie it in with remembrance day.

I've got purple poppies in my head for some reason.

i echo hugo's thoughts.
no red poppy for me and no need for a particular day to remind me of what ww2 did to a generation. got a whole lot of birthdays and death days already for that, if i needed reminding.

It's because of people like Harry Patch that I still give to the BL.

His stories of life in the trenches are the stuff of nightmares.

Yes I have a little poppy pin, as you say dawn, I am anti war, but the people that go off in the name of politics to get blown to fuck need our support and the British legion do that well, anyone heckling me for wearing one will be in for some abuse. (in the street not here!)

While I sympathise with those who died and suffered due to the Second World War, the poppy campaign has been completely hijacked by political interests and propaganda, and I wouldn't wear one.

Why would you let a politicle agenda stop you? You either agree with what the British legion do or you don't, fuck the politicians, that's my stance on it anyway, no offencewub.

I'll wear one. I believe that most people who've died in war never knew they were pawns - and those who did, felt the need to try to protect their families anyway, just like I would if mine was under threat. See the second line (following 1st semi colon) in my signature.

I wonder if there is anyone in the truth movement who had the misfortune to be born on the 11th day of the 11th month, and if there are are they self hating scorpios?

I have every respect for the poor sods who fell in those conflicts and the far-too-many since.
Most had no choice.
However, I have no need to be seen to pretend I remember them.

The poppy has unforunately become a symbol of division.
In my mind, it is not disrespectful of those who died in war to not wear a poppy.
It is disrespectful of their sacrifice to keep sending generation after generation of their descendents off into into the same horrendeous circumstances time and time again.

Soldiers drafted into service should never have to depend upon charities for support.
There's the shame of the poppy.

My child who is 19 was approached at the Job Centre by the Army and asked him to to 'sign up'

However I think wearing a poppy and renmering those who went before us and gave their lifes is not a bad f thing
