Getting older I notice alot more people who just exist but do not live...

Is there really another purpose to life past just to having fun?

Well, The Artist Formerly Known as RA, I suppose there are different levels of pleasure, and you can get enjoyment out of your life without it being the kind that makes you giggle.

But I suppose where ailing health and worrying about your budget not stretching to cover the basics, loneliness - that kind of thing - at any age, can put a spanner in the works.

Older people might also have worries about their extended families circumstances to contend with as well as their own. That's life, innit! It's not a non-stop barrel of laughs. I hope everyone gets some fun / pleasure though. The more, the better.

Another way of having fun is to sock-up on a forum to slag-off and insult people that have shown a genuine concern for you. :)

There are cock suckers out there who think that is a good laugh.

Lyric from Jack and Diane m8.

Hold on to 16 as long as you can
Changes come around real soon
Make us women and men

I was suggesting the OP may be caught up in an immaturity loop.

The first 28 seconds of the song are pretty good but the rest is an epic let down.*

I like the sound of an immaturity loop. Very sci-fi.

I always had a soft spot for this song tbh.

A simple wee vignette of 80's Americana with a memorable riff
You of course realise that today Jack and Diane are still living in the same wee town in a trailer with double-wide asses and voting republican. :D

feather i was down in North Carolina a few days ago going thru the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Greensboro area...

I was out in the sticks somewhere aka the bible belt and noticed alot of people just existing...

It really put this song in perspective after hearing it so much on the radio as a kid...

I would hate to think life goes on after the thrill of living has gone, but oh well.

"Gonna let it rock
Let it roll
Let the Bible Belt come and
Save my soul
Hold on to sixteen as long as you can
Changes come around real soon
Make us women and men"

But how do you know those people you saw are just existing?

Pardon? Am I reading that right RA? You make a statement that people are just existing but won't explain your thoughts because you don't want us to see you as judgmental? Is that right?

One of them religious nutters eh?
I'm waiting for the day I finally come across one that responds like that when I ask "so where did dinosaurs come from?" so I can fall down laughing at them.
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way
