Thanks bats. It's the wolf for me.

Gilly, yes, I have encountered the same issues. Still working on an asertiveness strategy, rather than denying resentment and finally boiling over.

I want to be the one that hugs people to make them feel loved, not rip great big chunks out of people. That’s what my soul feels is right.

You could rip people apart and hug the bloody chunks afterwards  :D

It's a good thing that your psyche came up with that insight though, so that you could take the required steps to fix the problem.

Did jhado and MrsGood figure out their animal totems yet?

MrsGood, I think a dream about a prehistoric sabre tooth tiger is telling you that you have carried over a totem animal from the past. It would have the same characteristics as a tiger today, but would be amplified.
Tiger: Passion, Power, Devotion
Tiger's gift is focus, patience, and the ability to heal quickly, both physically and emotionally. Healers often have a Tiger totem. It is very important for Tiger people to have time alone in their own special place. Tiger is the symbol of darkness and the new Moon. When a Tiger totem enters your life, expect new adventures. It will awaken new passion and power. Tiger people do their best work at night. They are very sensual and passion people and devoted parents. Your best work will be done at night. Tigers are associated with water and have all the properties of the element of Water - healing, power through gentle flow, feminine energies.

jhado, I agree with you that we have multiple totems, but I did not know it was 9. Interesting! You haven't told us a single one of yours, though.

A few years ago, I thought that skunk was one of my animal totems because there was a multi generational family of skunks that adopted me and every once in awhile the mothers would try to get me to take one of their babies but I did not go for it.

At that time, I read that this totem was about learning how to keep enemies at a distance, in a peaceful way, and that did seem to fit my situation. Here is skunk from Guev's link:
Skunk: Sensuality, Respect, Self-Esteem

The skunk is a very powerful totem with mystical and magical associations. It teaches how to give respect, expect respect and demand respect. This totem helps you recognize your own qualities and assert them. Skunks are fearless but very peaceful. These are two wonderful qualities that you can learn from your skunk totem. If you have skunk medicine will find that the use of fragrances will elicit dynamic responses in the people around you. Your sexual response will be heightened and you will have a greater ability to attract people. Individuals with a skunk totem must learn to balance the ability to draw and repel people. Skunks remind us that there is a time to be with people and a time for solitude. Skunks are silent animals and through their silence, they teach us not to brag --it will push people away rather than attract. People will notice you without any help.

I don't know what my animal totems are now. It almost feels like I don't have any, except for maybe a cat? :meow:

Guev, did you read the sloth description and found that it fit? Or was there some other process which brought you to the sloth? Have you had any dreams about animals?

I can't even remember my dreams right now, they evade me as much as my totem animals do. I think my life is at a standstill, but I am sure there is a purpose for this.

I go through phases of just developing a bizarre interest in animals, I got really interested in Platypi about this time last year spent weeks and months reading about them and their evolution, very strange animals:
Monotremes (for the other species, see Echidna) are the only mammals (apart from at least one species of dolphin)[30] known to have a sense of electroreception: they locate their prey in part by detecting electric fields generated by muscular contractions. The platypus' electroreception is the most sensitive of any monotreme.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotreme

But I like Sloths at the moment, saw a few documentaries about them, a strange example of survival of the fittest, the two main species are a great example of parallel adaptation.
The meanings that are the most directly practical are the ones that are sacrificed: the flavor, aroma and touch are abolished to the profit of the delusions that permanently lead sight and hearing astray.
