For some odd reason comedy covers it better than anything else.

The meanings that are the most directly practical are the ones that are sacrificed: the flavor, aroma and touch are abolished to the profit of the delusions that permanently lead sight and hearing astray.

I wonder if that sharp rise around 1980 had anything to do with the introduction of private prisons

was reading a couple of days ago that many states have contracts with the companies that run these prisons guaranteeing 98% occupancy.

Reagan/Thatcher was the start of the white collar criminal era proper imho.
Computers also arrived and facilitated things all the more. You'd swear the whole thing was planned tbh, Reagans entire bloody cabinet was full of criminals!

probably more to do with the Iran Contra Drugs for Weapons networks that flooded american cities with guns and drugs creating the requirement for the Private prison industrial complex.

I never thought of that, yeah that probably did have a huge effect on prison figures

I'd suggest going back at least another 250 years in the UK to find the root of this corruption.

Absolutely!
Perhaps even before then...

However what I said was the white collar criminal era proper. If you think about it, the 80's kicked off a lot of globalism and high volume automated trading of rocket science.

It's like Gladio in Europe once these networks are opened they can't be closed, in the case of Gladio to combat Communism in Europe which was taken over by Fascists and Sexually deranged aristocrats, or the Al Qaeda/Taliban networks in the 80's to combat "Soviet ideology" in Afghanistan which were taken over by the Islamist terrorist networks, these networks will have contact with various underground nodes throughout the world, engage in a multitude of illegal activities, the trades networks used in the contra affair by the CIA from South America to the US were taken over by the drugs trade.

It gave an extra dimension to the work of the Hoover Institute for the Study of War and Piece, and FBI cointelpro, flooding drugs and guns into the inner city areas actually removed the ability of these communities to organize as they previously were, lead by the likes of MLK, Malcolm X, Huey P Newton, Bobby Hutton etc in the 60's and 70's.

It's an ongoing war against an enemy the US conservative right perceive to exist within, an enemy that essentially grows from the poverty the US conservative right enforce on the majority of America.

The right-wing authoritarian mentality and the left-wing authoritarian mentality are two cheeks of the same arse in my experience.

Correct, as pointed out by Altermeyers work it is basically about people who suspend common sense when they are told something by their knight in shining armor.

As for the Ron Paul type, this is basically about purely economic freedoms not social freedom.
Ron Paul is the gatekeeper for people with more common sense than the RWA/LWA and who have some libertarian leanings but not hardcore libertarian leanings.
Alex Jones also typifies this type.

Noam Chomsky is for the even more libertarian types with quite a lot of common sense but he still has his red lines beyond which he will not go.

This ones weak.

The best argument against economic libertarians is simply this...how do you end up with equal distribution of wealth if the already stupidly rich will just have even more ways and means of getting stupidly rich?
Liberal economics basically only works with a blank sheet and everyone at square one with no dicking with it from that moment onwards.
Once you dick with it then there is no going back.

Liberal socialism on the other hand offers a way for the group to profit and at the same time distribute wealth amongst the group and also share in the skills of the group for healthcare, education etc. Thats what Chomsky talks about.
Which is much much better ofc, still not perfect imho but a damn site better than anything Ron Paul or the ilk has to offer.

Despite all this...I would still rather have Ron Paul any day of the week than Obama or Romney! ;)
Chomsky ofc has never run for president lol :D Not afaik anyway :p

You're argument against economic libertarians is weaker than your description of economic libertarianism;
"Liberal economics basically only works with a blank sheet and everyone at square one with no dicking with it from that moment onwards."

IE Liberal economics is purely idealistic.
