Well yes, if you weren't able to experience guilt, you couldn't really have a conscience and would be a sociopath - but it's a gift to reject hanging on to guilt & torturing yourself with it I suppose. And not accepting guilt that other people try to unjustly hang on you. Folk are always doing that!
What I mean to say is that if you live your life not intentionally doing harm to others in any shape or form, verbally, physically, or be bearing false witness towards them, or taking or stealing from them, etc. then you have no reason for guilt.
I don't think it ever need to be more complicated than "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". People like to get all fancy and intellectual, but it is really simple and the answers lie more in the heart than in the mind. Actually, I think we can make our own minds lie to ourselves if we want to. But the heart, it never lies. And if you remove all hatred from your heart the easier it will be to stay connected to it.
That is not to say that I or others will always make mistakes. A sociopath does not look within, they live in denial and do not do soul searching. If I find I did something hurtful to another, I will search my soul and take a note or two so it doesn't happen again, hopefully. I think this leads to a guilt-free state and a clear conscience is a powerful state of being. And the better you know yourself, i.e., keep up with the housecleaning, so to speak, then the easier and easier it gets to remain in that state.
In other words, the only time we should feel guilt is when we do something that did or would hurt someone, but we can always learn from that and not do it again.
