That vid was a bit daft tbh.
The car was beginning to drift and buffet unacceptably over 160mph and tbh most people would struggle to react with any decent leeway above about 150mph.
There was simply no reaction time there if a deer jumped out...or worse still a kid as you would be concentrating like hell on a long way off, once you scan that distance and see its ok and steer for it then you ignore it and continue to scan further off.
On the other hand I can agree there are places where speed limits are infuriatingly stupid, 30 mph zones that extend way way outside towns and villages that could be cut short much further back, and tbh most decent drivers in the UK are capable of handling around 90mph in the dry in a GOOD car. I would say 90 dry , 70 wet would be preferable for the motorways, combine that with moving back the speed limit signs and weird 40mph zones for no obvious reason in the countryside.
Whats needed for progression is more space for overtaking, ie extra lane adding to single lane A roads that go long distances rather than upping the speed limits that much tbh. The autobahn is just nuts, it'll attract nuts for sure lol.
I'd like to see some flexibility in speed limit ranges and zones because some stretches need ppl to slow even more, to say 20mph or even less and other stretches in 30 zones are quite safe for up to 50mph and you commonly see ppl doing that speed in certain sections for precisely that reason.
It'd take some common sense with experienced drivers consulted and a lot of time and effort to sort the signs.
Not to mention converting a pile of A-roads to dual carriageway
All this crap is due in no small part to the destruction of the railways. Were they running to as many places as they used to and frequently then ppl would drive less anyway. Same goes for buses. Public transports basically sucks and its f***** expensive so no wonder ppl prefer to drive.
There are some countries that have some fairly decent public transport but its still a long way off ideal, except in core cities ofc.
London underground is actually pretty good.
All that said, if you wanna do 300kmh I suggest paying to take your car into a race track or getting a job as a UK bobby...LOL!
