WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President, and their families, and establish Gun Free Zones around them
Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.

Armed guards demonstrates a lack of faith.

Gun nuts have no faith in their "guvment" which is nonsensical because they don't need to waste bullets to neutralise you.

Politicos have no faith in their fellow citizens which is nonsensical if you accept te premise of democracy for the same reason given above.

I don't carry a gun because I have faith in a simple fact: better to live without guns and risk death than live in perpetual fear of being shot.

If one does not think that gun nuts and politicos don't live in fear of getting shot, check out their rhetoric.

Of course the people who made this petition are aware that this is a waste of time and are probably all pro gun people, many of whom probably want to shoot Obama for being a black Muslim socialist. Personally I think it ignores a lot. Ignorance is bliss though they say.

And i don't even like the guy. But I do believe that if the police have been informed that you have had multiple death threats (and he has had 43,830 in the first four years alone making him the most threatened US president in history) then they have a duty to offer you protection.

I don't, however, think that this petition necessarily indicates people want him dead.
People obvioulsy want to make a point.
Howver I do think that there are a shocking number of people that do indeed want hom dead (at ;east over 50, 000 have said they want to do the deed so that gives us a fair idea) and in the US deadly force is held as a perfectly reasonable way to solve problems.Even their senators and governers seem to think it is quite reasonable to fuel these feelings with violent rhetoric (e.g. Palin marking crosshairs on maps during the 2008 political campaign.

Well, seeing as the law only applies to law abiding people then perhaps the police ought to be providing armed protections for everyone who abides by the law then?

It seems more likely that they just want sufficient signatures so that it has to be viewed by the White House, because it does in fact, illustrate people's recognition and anger at the hypocrisy of the likes of Obama being allowed to protect themselves with guns, while other people who have had the right to do so, will be losing that right if the 2nd amendment is quashed.

You say it has nothing to do with the secret service or police or private security, but in a great many people people's minds, it actually has. This is because they don't wish the situation to arise whereby the only groups to be armed are the criminals, who will continue to obtain arms from the black market (just as they do in countries where it's illegal to carry guns - such as the UK) and the police etc, who are largely distrusted. This would make a lot of people feel extremely vulnerable.

While there very probably are some nutters about who want to shoot Obama because he's a black Muslim socialist, that clearly is not what this is about.

I knew what you meant but if you are going to load a question when you point it in my direction then I will make that point. You should read all of what I write if you wish to fully understand my views. Having said that there is no reason for you to understand my views. I am not sure if it is a cultural thing or what but to me the gun issue is going to piss people off. I don't think the USA is more free than the U.K. and yet I know people with more fire power than the police in the U.K. So guns and the 2nd holy amendment are not really the issue. The NRA has a big lobby in Washington. They are very powerful on the right. Not to say only right wingers want guns but the right is very vocal about it. Now I have expressed some of my views. Call me names or whatever gets you off.

Yes there are bad cops etc etc but the laws and regulations on police and security firearms are already much stricter than civilians so your point about wheelchairs is bollocks. I shouldn't even need to point out that most cops don't taze people in wheelchairs, it certainly isn't common practice and it has no relation to the regulations on guns.


The secret service protects the President but I really don't think that he has a direct say in how they do that. I would also add that the proposed ban as I understand it is on assault weapons with tighter regulations on hand guns. That sounds sensible to me. So people can still practice their 2nd amendment right to have guns.

So there is a first amendment and a second amendment for the right to bear arms????????


Maybe if the americans put down their guns there would be less unnecessary death
