That is the point where we often end up clashing.

I recognise and accept that the human species are not ready, willing or able to adopt the attitude and responsibilities you aim for.
Truthfully it would be as realistic to expect a shrimp to evolve into a zebra.

There is little point in becoming frustrated and impatient with the shrimp. Accept it as a shrimp and act accordingly.

I plod on regardless but can't erase the thought that there has to be more to life than this and how we could create an environment to try and fulfill our potential.

Where is the link to this great project or is it the one I put up ?
FFS people cant even agree on a location and time for a meet up :spank: never mind changing the world.

The only way I foresee change is through a global natural catastrophe or global war eliminating most of the population and it starting afresh

War was certainly not always the driver of technological advance anymore than profit was.
In fact, you can only take that as given in relatively recent times.

The question is not if technological advance happened but what course it took and which specific areas advanced and which did not.

Also complete annihilation of the human race although 'change' is not exactly the specific kind of change we'd really like to see...unless you're KOTG but I would hope no1 here is that nuts :)

As for meeting up I'm already seeing mikey this weekend :p

I'm sure the people I was giving out food parcels to over Christmas would love the opportunity of a ride on a boat or plane.

It's certainly true that in comparative terms in the West there is an overall far higher standard of living than many parts of the world. However, relative inequality engenders an acute perception oif those that exist within one's immediate environment. And somebody living in a grimy Salvation Army hostel in the North West - the kind of people I spend a lot of time around - don't give a fuck about your jaunts abroad.

You're thinking far too complicated.
A house is changing the environment as is not having a koran or a bible lying around.
Technology can easily do many things right now with stuff we discovered a hell of a long time ago, let alone cutting edge.
Like I said, its a choice isn't it? We don't use certain tech in certain situations because its not profitable to do so is it?

Picture a human being who is born into a world without money and without profit motive. How would they think as adults after growing up in such an environment? The results of such a thought experiment are truly staggering and quite scary for those who would prefer things to remain as they are.

There is not one person here who, if faced with a situation where it was either themselves and their family starve to death, or survive by taking someone else's food, would not do so.

And anyone who denies that is deluding themselves.
